President Trump had a call with Turkey’s President Erdogan on Friday, and according to White House officials, Trump backed Turkey absolutely in Syria, demanding Syria and Russia immediately halt their offensive in Idlib Province.
The White House comments again presented Turkey’s operations as trying to “de-escalate the situation in northwest Syria,” when it would be more correct to say they are trying to keep Islamist groups from being defeated outright by the Syrian government.
With Turkey’s military operations risking running up against Russia, what they likely want is US military backing. Defense Secretary Mark Esper has already said that’s not under serious consideration.
Other US officials say that the US is looking to “help” Turkey in this operation, but it will most likely be in the form of information-sharing and equipment, not direct US military involvement.
If true, Trump can get bent. But then again, words are wind, and as long as we don’t get involved militarily Turkey will get the whooping it deserves.
They are working on a US military support option, don’t worry about that. US already holds the Syrian oil fields and has demonstrated willingness to fight Russia over it. If there is an escalation, Trump will order the strikes against Russian assets.

Only very recently has the USA changed its correct designation of the terrorists in Idlib and decided to support Erdogan who has refused to keep to his earlier agreement with Syria and Russia.. Of course Trump jumps in-like the Turks, his troops are illegally in Syria. Even NATO knows this behavior is not on, but King Donald does it anyway, and really stupid Democrats keep pretending Russia wants Trump to win the farce being held in November called an election.
The Don is just looking to sell some more toys. The stock market has been taking a beating lately and election time is nearing.
Translation: Trump and NATO will cheer Turkey so loud and boo Russia so harshly from their private viewing boxes over the Syrian arena, their force of empty wind alone will propel Erdogan’s mighty forces to victory.
Seems like a good deal for the U.S., if Turkey and Russia Vietnam war one another in Syria. Not so great for the Syrians, though its tough to beat occupation by cultish head-choppers.
