In nominating John Ratcliffe as the new Director of National Intelligence, President Trump says his goal is to “rein in” the US intelligence agencies. He says everyone has learned those US agencies “have run amok.”
Ratcliffe, if confirmed, would replace outgoing DNI Dan Coats. Coats is
said to have disagreed with President Trump on a number of issues,
raising concerns that the main goal for his replacement is just someone
loyal to Trump.
Trump denied that there was any hostility with Coats, however, saying
that Coats just got “a little confused” sometimes. Trump has
consistently attacked the intelligence community, seeing them as hostile
to him.
Ratcliffe is being attacked by Democrats for defending Trump during the
Mueller hearing in the House, with some questioning his qualifications
for the post and others insisting that his allegiance to Trump made him
ill-suited to the post.

No. He argued with the last DNI, so he replaced him with a boot-licking toady. Trump doesn’t like being disagreed with. I see zero reform here, just a cozying up of intelligence agencies with the executive branch of the gov’t.

Mork, The “Intelligence” agency’s job is to give the POTUS proven facts, not to attempt to over throw the Executive Branch,,and that is exactly what they were up to! Prez. needs to do a slash and burn to these group’s that have a record of great failure!!

“Rein in” the agencies to do what, exactly? Certainly, deleting several and making the rest actually comply with constitutional limits would be excellent. Not sure if this is what the president means, though …
When Trump says, “rein in,” he means that he’s looking to taking the reins.
He wants to be in at least nominal control of everything in the government. From trying to dictate Fed policy to appointing a loyalist to be the new
DNI, Trump demands personal loyalty to himself as president, not to America or any Americans besides his immediate family.
