Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaido has confirmed that he is considering asking the United States to invade Venezuela to install him in power. He says this is one of several options under consideration now.
Guaido is keen to see Maduro forcibly removed from power so he can
replace him, and after last week’s failed US-backed coup, he is looking
for a new avenue to pursue, despite arguing that he’s not “defeated”
entirely.
Russian FM Sergey Lavrov issued his own statement on Sunday, calling on the US to abandon its campaign to overthrow Maduro
at any rate, saying it was an “irresponsible” plan. Lavrov will be in
Finland on Monday, and is expected to meet with Mike Pompeo while there.
The US has for months committed to supporting Guaido, and officials have long threatened an invasion to make it happen. Though not everyone in the US is on board
with a war, some in the administration maintain that the US is
determined to oust Maduro by any method, and seem to be running out of
ideas for a US-imposed regime change that doesn’t involve conquering the
country.
Fortunately, Guaido doesn’t command US forces. Unfortunately, I don’t have much more confidence in the bumpkins who have commanded US forces for the last 50 years.
Are they “bumpkins” or mobsters ? I’m betting on the latter…….
Doesn’t matter weather it’s incompetence or malice (bumpkins or mobsters). The end result is still the same. But let’s split the difference; they’re both bumpkins and mobsters.
How treasonous does someone have to be to be guilty of treason? He wants the US to kill his own citizens. The US will never invade Venezuela. It would be Vietnam 2.0. Guaido is scum and should be summarily executed. When Venezuela needs is a good civil war. Tehn maybe Americans would be able to figure out what we need to fix this country.
They hanged William Joyce for that (Lord Haw Haw). His defence was he was Irish and as Ireland wasn’t at war with Germany he couldn’t be guilty of treason. But he had dual Irish-American citizenship and they got him on treason charges because he held an American passport.
Venezuela is more American double standards equal to lawlessness.
Aka Bolton & Pompeo ordered Guaido to “ask” the US to intervene?
a coward and a traitor. the guys tells others to break the blocade for the so called aid yet dont stand on the frontline to do so( while knowing standing order is there not to touch him) he is a spineless man who cant even take the slight chance of misccalculations of grunts.maduro is a throughly corrupt thug but if the alternate is this……
Gweedo the traitor. Hang him high.
The audacity of Guaido saying that is stunning. In any other country on the planet he would have been arrested and charged with treason.
The US is already committing crimes against humanity with the sanctions, which are a clear violation of the Rome Statute, so why not throw some war crimes into the mix as well. Fling some Tomahawks at Venezuela so Brian Williams can get off again on the “beauty of our weapons.” Send some CIA contractors down there to terrorize the civilian population even more, blow up dams and electrical grids, and maybe even assassinate Maduro. That’s how we’ve operated in Latin America for a century or more.
This whole thing stinks to high heaven. Where are all the would-be candidates for POTUS on this issue? Why the silence? You’d think one of them would take this and run with it, as being anti-war and anti-MIC is the only way anyone can beat Trump in 2020. Bernie, Tulsi, where are you?
And Guaido walking free exposes the lie Venezuela is a dictatorship.
“Bernie, Tulsi, where are you?”
The same place Trump, Obomber, and the rest of the posers are, Thomas………… Trying to keep from being assassinated by the corporate fascists and their hit squad.
Inverted totalitarianism is a real bitch ! Hard to stay alive for very long unless you play ball with the “earners” and the “enforcers”.
Interesting this clown is traveling around the world. Wanna guess who is paying the airfare?
Probably the same ones who told him to “consider” asking for help.
Actually, the US taxpayers are paying the bill, whom weren’t consulted on regime change in Venezuela.
