Heavy South Yemen Fighting Kills at Least 85

Fighting continues to rage in the Dhale Province

Fighting continues to rage in southern Yemen’s Dhale Province, with reports that the Houthi movement has been pushing into the Damt District and the surrounding area in an ongoing offensive.

Fighting has been ongoing for about a week, and Yemeni officials say 85 have been killed in fighting between the Houthis and the Saudi-backed government forces in the area.

Indications are that the two sides have been fighting and that little ground has traded hands in recent days. If anything the Houthis seem to have further secured their hold in the area, which they’d previously lost and pushed back into.

Saudi officials didn’t seem to be heavily involved in this fight, instead carrying out more airstrikes against the capital of Sanaa. They defended airstrikes near the presidential palace as legitimate military strikes against a place where drones were present.
