Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has addressed allegations surrounding a dossier leaked yesterday which claimed the Russian government had acquired “compromising information” on US President-elect Donald Trump, insisting the accusations were a “total hoax.”
The dossier, which originated from a former MI-6 agent, claimed close cooperation between the Trump campaign and the Kremlin, and that Russia had been working to groom Trump in some manner for the last eight years, including gathering dirt on him.
The dossier further claimed that Trump had decided to “defile” the bed in the presidential suite at the Moscow Ritz-Carlton with a “golden shower party” involving numerous Russian prostitutes, and the top Russian spy agency, the FSB, had video footage of this.
There is already considerable doubt about the accusations, with Trump denying it, and Peskov went on to insist that the Kremlin has no compromising information at all about Donald Trump at all, nor have they been attempting to gather any.
During one of Lyndon Johnson’s campaigns for Congress, he instructed his manager to spread the rumor that his opponent made love to pigs. The manager was aghast at the order and replied that the man did no such thing. Johnson replied, I know, I know, but make him deny it.
That’s what Russia would say of course. But unfortunately the US spook agencies picked up on it and it got leaked. Not by the spook agencies though. Just a small glitch in the system and right now Russia isn’t going to be letting any of it out on Trump. Trump just has to hope that none of the video gets out from other sources. Others? Not from within the CIA for sure.
So who ya going to believe? Your own spook agencies or the Russians?
If you’d read the details more carefully, you’d see it’s even worse: the report was actually pimped to many news organizations *way before* it was stove-piped into the US intelligence inquiry. And only then the more “credible” news outlets became interested again in what was “old” stuff.
It smells to me like typical back-stabbing heroism from John McCain and friends. But that’s just a hunch.
What is really interesting about this: why nobody is suspecting yet this could be a perfect example of “fake” news inserted into the Western media by Russia (though “leaks”) just to BREAK the system and its trust levels. Because if Russia has any grand design with their supposed “hacking” it would be only that: to make people more concerned and distrustful of their politicians and media — to the extent it all atomizes into something which needs a lot of energy to keep it together. Russia wants this naked emperor from its back but it doesn’t want to *hurt* him at the same time.
I wouldn’t agree that it came from McCain and friends and that’s because the US spook agencies must know it’s real.
My guess is that it came from Russia alright but not from any Russian source that is sympathetic to Putin and his gov.
Notwithstanding that Russia likely does want Trump off it’s back but doesn’t want to hurt him (his vanity and his feeling) at the same time. That last point seems to me to be quite intuitive of you for picking up on it. It’s really that simple with Trump isn’t it.
But then, that would be assuming that Russia (Putin) believed that Trump would be good to his word on improving relations with Russia. (not too likely) But worth something to Russia in the short term until Trump is informed of how far off base he is for thinking the US would ever make friends with Russia. LOL
