In a new interview with the Wall Street Journal, President-elect Donald Trump said that he is likely to end the US support of “moderate” Syrian rebel groups, saying that “we have no idea who these people are” and that the US needs to focus on defeating ISIS.
The interview only briefly touched on foreign policy, but Trump echoed similar concerns about backing Syrian rebels in the past, saying that the defeat of Assad could lead to something even worse in the country, and today warning that backing the rebellion risks starting a fight with Syria and Russia.
This has been an ongoing problem for the US, with the Pentagon seeking to fight ISIS and the CIA and State Department seeking to shift the focus away from ISIS and toward regime change. The CIA is heavily involved in arming and funding the rebels.
The CIA plan to aid rebels, along with Pentagon efforts to create whole new rebel forces, have largely been disastrous failures at any rate, with much of the smuggled arms ending up in the hands of al-Qaeda and ISIS forces. Despite this, the programs have largely continued, and Trump’s interest in not doing so is seen as a major shift in US policy.

Do you really believe that Putin wants to rule Poland again given what a pain in the arse Poles can be? Given that Russian defence expenditure is a fifth of that of the EU countries alone and Putin himself has said that attacking any part of NATO would be madness, it’s very unlikely that he’ll even try and events in Iraq have shown people how to blow any occupation apart. The purpose of those surrealistic scenarios promoted by the establishment is to keep people disorientated, disorganized and easy to control. For some reason it works particular well in countries like Poland and Ukraine. May be because of their complex of inferiority.

I think we have more than a good idea that the ‘moderate’ Syrian Rebels and ISIS are one in the same, and I suspect Trump has figured this charade out also and is not going to go along with it.
But on the other hand many of his possible cabinet/agency head picks: Bolton, Gingrich, Guliani, Palin, Rodrigez ….are very very very worrisome. These are the worst of the worst. The bottom of the warmonger barrel.
I guess we will soon find out whether the civilian government really runs the country or whether the secret government (the same animals that brought you The Bay of Pigs, Gulf of Tonkin, Iran Contra and the 9/11/Anthrax False Flags) actually calls the shots. I tend to think its the latter.
Obama did a complete 180 on so many of his positions from when he was a candidate from the Surge in Afghanistan to Spying of the American People to whistleblowers being a “necessary part of a healthy democracy”.
