Speaking in an interview today with The Independent, Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Muallem said his government believes that the United States is the driving force in the rebel side of the ongoing Syrian civil war, and that he believes that other nations backing the rebels are just America’s “instruments”
“I tell the Americans: ‘You must read well what you did in Afghanistan and Somalia. I don’t understand your slogan of fighting international terrorism when you are supporting this terrorism in Syria’,” insisted Muallem.
Muallem’s interview was by telephone, and was regularly interrupted by the sound of fighting in the capital of Damascus. He said he was saddened by the ongoing fighting, and that he considers himself a Syrian first and a government minister second.
Though the US has been pushing for international intervention in Syria to install the rebels as the new government, they have largely tried to take a back seat publicly, letting nations like France lead the way on the resolutions.
I find the title of this article almost inconceivable! The U.S. involving itself in a Civil War in another country? Well I never.
Then I tried to think of a nation that the U.S. hasn't interfered with. Well, I couldn't!
Then I tried to think of what good the U.S. has brought to the world. Er…, er….., their killing of millions has helped with over-population, I guess!
The divide-and-conquer strategy is always the same: prepare public opinion by deploying your 'agents of influence' in the press; covertly arm/sponsor violent insurgents – often via foreign proxies – to destabilise target country; present attempts by said g'ment to clamp down on violent uprising as further evidence of brutality…and so forth. Rarely does the establishment media highlight the role of Western secret strategy in deliberately escalating the conflict.
The endgame of 'humanitarian intervention' is regime change, to be sure – but never lasting peace, never genuine democracy. Pipeline and tanker routes, energy consortiums and contracts are what really matters to our military strategists.
@paulchurch3
This is nothing new, US and EU been supporting terrorism when Bush Sr, started having business relation with Wahhabis first then arming them and sending them to Afghanistan fighting USSR, where Osama Bin Laden was created, and guess who attacked WTC buildings and which country US invaded, retaliating for what the other guys did. Since then the buggy man that called Al Queada was born. Up to todays date US been using its own created terrorists elements using them in destabilizing Iraq, Yemen, Libya and now Syria.
Look: what Obama is doing is opening all kind of path to war with Iran if the other guy wins the november presidential election therefore Iran is (militarily) encircled and is under economic sanction, Bill Clinton, Tony Blair, the Germans and French and George W. Bush did the same thing in their time with Iraq, he inherited the Bill Clinton foreign policy which was presented to him back in 1990s, Paul Wolfowitz and others were the ones who presented the idea (preemptive wars) to Bill Clinton but it was George W. Bush who implemented the AIPAC idea in middle east. Bill Clinton did his part by bombing Sudan and later Balkan war dividing Yugoslavia.
Look: the idea behind all that wars, the planed wars, the pipelines, the Oil companies the US militarism complex and etc comes to one thing and one thing only, US is a military regime, the military complex of US needs to have a war no matter where or with whom or for what, otherwise the complex itself will throw millions of people out in street who work there and pay taxes back into the pocket of these manufacturer, US government no matter what is called, is domestic social politics and foreign policies
needs to be based on militarism and its agendas in world domination, therefore you see all those sectarian, religious and divisions regarding nations fighting each other, Syria is one of those example. Having said that, US democratic party or the majority of the republicans playing the political aspects of it all, therefore they are against all and every country that is socialist, or become socialist or one might become free from capitalism slavery no matter what kind of political system and Etc.
These two party playing the dividing games with other nations, because the smaller country the better managed capitalism system. They all ready have a plan for Iran wanting to be divided by the tribes and religions, it was Joe Bidden who wanted to divid Iraq and it was Bill Clinton and Madeline Albright who divided Yugoslavia and now they are doing it in Syria, not knowing that Syria is not Libya, Syria will be a pain for a long time to come as it already starting to show the mark of the pain. So for Barack or Mitt they only have two choice to make one: call back your dogs, Turkey and Saudis and UAE, two: start the third world war by starting it with Iran.
america has always been a criminal enterprise IRAQ for starters.
