In the wake of the death of the East Libyan rebel movement’s military leader Gen. Abdul Fattah Younes under bizarre circumstances it was clear that the rebels have more than a few internal problems. Those fissures within the “transitional” council have been made even more public today, as the prime minister has fired the entire cabinet.
According to rebel spokesmen today Prime Minister Jibril has dismissed the entire cabinet “for improper administrative procedures” related to Younes arrest and assassination, promising to present a new cabinet “in the coming days.”
The move has potentially huge ramifications for the already splintering rebel faction, including bringing all talks with the West aimed at acquiring more money and weapons to a virtual halt, as every cabinet member involved in those talks is now sacked.
Family members of Gen. Younes said they were “cautiously welcoming” the move, insisting that their only real goal is to see those responsible for the general’s assassination prosecuted.
As money starts to pour to Benghazi and the West who appropriated Libya sovereign treasurs are promising to open more flood gates on these money bickering and outright killing of opposed fractions in Benghazi is getting on. Also this sucking of rebel government except unelected "Prime Minister" Jibril opens the way for CIA man in Benghazi Hifter to come to the spot he long time desires – Commander of Rebel Army. Younis is dead, so field is free for grab and Hifter is probably trained well to get it. After he gets there i bet US will also open the flood gates to Libya money.
On the other hand – Reuters in its analysis of Libya from August 4, 2011 by Catherine Bremer first time acknowledged that "NATO is bombing in support of rebel forces". I do not know where in UN resolution 1973 is support of rebel forces. The member of powerful West news organisations admits after almost 5 months of bombing Libya that NATO is not protecting civilians as the world until now had been told, but are supporting a smaller part of Libyan citizenry in their civil war.
With this open support of rebels's side of civil war the goals of the West seems to get clearer. Still remembering the videos of abuse, torture and killing of all accused pro-Gaddafis in Benghazi, which flooded video sharing sites of internet in February and March I am worried that rebels might really get to Tripoli, which is according to them full of traitors of their revolution. Cities on their path there they are finding depopulated and yet they are showing their wrath by looting, torching and destroying property of these "traitors", who are still on Gaddafi side. If rebels start mass executions of their political enemies – Libya's civilians after they reach them with all the support they are getting from West, is NATO going to finally fulfill UN resolution 1973 and bomb rebels? I doubt it, since clearly NATO countires have their own goals in Libya.
I am ashamed to be a citizen of NATO country.
