Speaking today at the National Press Club, Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Admiral Michael Mullen declared that “it’s very clear to me that a nuclear weapon in Iran is an existential threat to Israel.”
Adm. Mullen has repeatedly met with Israel’s military chief Gen. Ashkenazi, and says foiling Iran’s nuclear program is “the number one priority for Israel.” This has been underscored in recent days as Israel has repeatedly threatened to attack Iran.
But while Admiral Mullen said he still wanted President Obama to continue with diplomacy, he was fully prepared to see the US attack Iran to prevent a nuclear Iran from “undermining the stability” of the Middle East. At the same time, Mullen admitted that attacking Iran itself “would also be incredibly destabilizing.”
Though Western officials have repeatedly issued warnings about Iran’s nuclear program, the IAEA has repeatedly certified that none of Iran’s uranium has been enriched to anywhere near weapons-grade level and that none of it is being diverted to anything but civilian use.
Of course, this is BS! A superior military is always looking for a fight it can win whatever losses it may entail.
Yes.
Gen. Douglas MacArthur –
"Wars are caused by undefended wealth."
Is this the same Mullen cat who was sorta, kinda, blocking Bush from pulling this sort of stunt the past couple of years but now is caving? I wonder how much arm twisting it took.
No arm twisting, just some payoffs from the Israelis. Mullen ought to join the Israeli Navy as he seems to be speaking for them regarding the "Existential Threat" bulls#%t.
Notice how Admiral Mullen stated that Iran armed with a nuclear weapon is an existential threat to Israel. Did he ever stop to think that Israel armed with nuclear weaponS might be considered an existential threat by Iran. Even more important than the above, he did not say a nuclear armed Iran is an existential threat to the United States. It seems to me Admiral Mullen should concern himself with existential threats to the United States and not Israel. If Admiral Mullen wants to worry about existential threats to Israel he should join the Israeli army. Instead, he wants to drag the people of the United States into another Middle Eastern war to defend Israel. Talk about putting Israel first!
thank hou for your excellent point of view. Americans should sacrifice themselvs for their nation. If we follow Israel, there will be war every time: In the middl East, then in Pakistan, in North Africa, and so on.
There will no stability in the world. With this unconditional support of this terrorist state there, America is harming itself. There are two solutions to pressure american government to drop Israel:
1) The truth of 11/9
2)To fight the AIPAC LOBBY.
Good success for achieving those goals.
Rather than "to defend" Israel, I would have written, "to advance Israel's causes."
Well said indeed. In case the good admiral doesn't realize it, it is American taxpayers who provide his very generous salary, not israeli ones. Note how he says Iran having nuclear weapons and attacking Israel (improbable at best), "destabilizes theh middle east". Actually Israel has been destabilizing the middle east since the day it was created from the conquest of Palestine.
Right on Epstein! Ireal is such a whore and the US such a stupid john>
Sorry for the typo I ment Israel is such a whore.I am all thumbs.

The Khazars are afraid their true identity will be revealed.
I guess Admiral Mullen has forgotten that he is an admiral in the US Navy – not the Israeli Navy. Too bad that we have generals and admirals and congressmen / women whose sworn allegiance is to Israel and NOT to the US. Today we have 'politicians' for generals and admirals who are more concerned with managing their careers than having any concern for the troops. Shame on them! Israel remains a rogue nation of racists, Communists, and Nazis, and war criminals! AIPAC is an organization of TRAITORS to the US. Our support of Israel will be the death of America!
"But while Admiral Mullen said he still wanted President Obama to continue with diplomacy, he was fully prepared to see the US attack Iran to prevent a nuclear Iran from “undermining the stability” of the Middle East. Does the Military now decide our foreign and military policy? Since when? These military officials who spend their time before the cameras telling us what THEY want the President to do bring chills of fear of how Republics die and by whose hand.
When Israel decideds that the rest of the world is also a threat do we just blow it all up too?
Obama would do well to retire a handful of these overly ambitious, overly decorated "commanders" before it is too late!
I agree. Is it just me or are American military commanders starting to look a lot like Latin American ones from yesteryear?
That's not just how they look, our guys may not attend the SOA, but they do teach there.
Republics die when they become an empire because the average citizen cares not a whit about undersatnding what is going on in the Levant frontier so they elect emporer Dickless to do their foriegn policy thinking for them.
We elected Ceasar before, and we will do it again, W was Julius's return from Gaul.
Obama is little different when it comes to foriegn policy, his is an extension of the same policies where it really matters, like in the Levant.
So the US is going to launch an attack on Iran that would be in
Mullen's own words "incredibly destabilizing" in an attempt to
"stabilize" the Middle East???
I have to get my WTF Pills out and swallow them with a gallon of
whiskey.
Kind of reminds me of the Vietnam war where the marines had to destroy the historic city of Hue, in order to "save" it.
You'd think this guy was in the Israeli armed forces instead of America.
From that statement alone one has to conclude that he's gotta go. And why is he meeting with Israeli military so much? Is there some type of US military operation with Israel assisting us? Is this the best use of his time? These are the fruits of Rumsfeld's labor. First fill the Pentagon with neo-cons and now we have a US military at its highest levels bowing to their Israeli masters. Splendid… How much more bending over can the US to for some miserable piece of desert?
If this were true, which it's not. Why in the hell should we care? Why is so much time spend agonizing over the well being of Israel. How does Israel's continued existence benefit the United States? Why should we care more about Israel than we do about Upper Volta or Chad? Israel is a millstone around the neck of the American people. It is time for Israel to learn that you can't make friends by murdering your neighbors. It's time for ourr traitorous government overlords to learn the lesson of Nicolae Ceau_escu, Nobody loves you when your down and out We can no longer afford to provide Israel with Janissaries to fight their wars. We send these kids out as true believers and they come back to us broken in body and spirit. You would think sacrificing our young would generate gratitude. Just read the letters to the editor in the "Jerusalem Post" . The contempt they hold the United States in for it's recalcitrance in Invading Iran is over whelming. The hell with them and the good admiral as well.
Just think of what the USA could have accomplished if all that wasted time, money and energy squandered on Israel had been spent on something else. Just think what 3 billion dollars a year could do for say, rural Alabama.
"It is time for Israel to learn that you can't make friends by murdering your neighbors."
awesome words
With the money we gave them the whole world could have health care and education.
What does the word 'existential' mean in this context? I read Hilary Clinton's use of the same word last week while in Pakistan. I just don't get it.
The word is incorrectly used, which means that these two so-called leaders are too uneducated to hold the positions they have or they are mis-using words to influence the thoughts of the American people.
On the other hand, there may be a new dictionary out there for the New World Order that I haven't seen.
Zionist scholars are at good playing with words, no surprise there. Israeli and US Zionists have been using the "existential threat" phrase for years now, to express that Iran isn't just any threat. A kid with a rock is consirered a threat to Israel. But Iran is more dangerous than that. It poses a threat to the very existence of Israel. Or, if the US does nothing, Iran will cause Israel to cease to exist. It's an appeal to emotions and an allusion to genocide. It's either Iran or Israel. That should spook enough American Jews to pre$$ure American politicians to attack Iran.
"Existential" is not used in a Sartrean way here.
Amen. We could turn Detroit into Paris.
It's nice to know the military decides wether it's in our best interest to attack. Good to know those pesky elected officials won't have much input.
Israel is like a giant open sewer. We throw out national treasure into it, along with the dead and maimed bodies of our young soldiers. Who knows, perhaps someday it will grow a flower or turnip or some useful weed.
if they keep crying wolf, eventually there will be a lot of people who consider all nuclear weapons to be hoaxes. Then they can do whatever they want, and call everything else "just a matter of opinion" (oh, wait, they already do that).
Last thing america should think about is attacking iran, cause iran will wipe these dirty israelis and americans out easy. all these world wars is them dirty israelis, I personally think they should be wiped out so the world can eventually rest.
