Russia’s Foreign Ministry issued a quick and straightforward denial today, following claims by US General Curtis Scaparrotti that Russia was “perhaps” providing supplies to the Taliban, insisting that it was “a lie,” which the US was forwarding to try to cover up its policy failures in Afghanistan.
Russian officials went on to say that they consider the Taliban a terrorist organization, but that they had made limited contact with them in trying to help bring them to the negotiating table for peace talks, adding that the US refused to attend to the talks they are trying to organize.
Throughout the NATO war in Afghanistan, Russia has supported the conflict publicly, and at times has given them a land supply route for the war. They have, however, also moved to try to get peace talks going, particularly when NATO was hyping its drawdown as the beginning of the end of the war.
Russia has defense deals with former Soviet states near Afghanistan, and fears that the war will spill over into those nations without the NATO occupation. This is less of an issue since the US seems to once again be escalating the conflict and showing no signs of leaving, but the shifting narrative has kept Russia on its toes.
Captured Taliban arms caches reveal lots of Soviet era weapons, and the dastardly Brits are in on it as well. The Lee Enfield bolt action rifle (circa 1915) is also very popular.
They are also capturing newer weapons from the Afghan military itself, which the Russians have supplied with gear to fight the IS.
So, yeah, the Russians have been caught red-handed again. I guess.
Interesting comment there They are also capturing newer weapons from the Afghan military itself, which the Russians have supplied with gear to fight the IS. America is in fact supplying Afghanistan with weapons and it is actually doing it with Russian weapons on the basis of the huge stocks of former Russian ammunition there. Of course there would be NO AL QAEDA OR TALIBAN but for the US funding the Mujahideen way back in the Eighties, remember Rambo III when Al Qaeda was considered the GOOD GUYS by the US. OOOPS
Osama Bin Ladin’s code name given by the CIA was Archer and had to do with his specific training by them in the use of the STINGER missile system!
Well, that’s a new one. There’s lots of apocrypha concerning bin Laden, but the only code name that’s ever came up reliably over the years was ‘Tim Osman’.
If Russia supplied the Taliban with their best ground air defense like we supplied the Taliban and Osama bin Laden to drive the Soviet Union out of Afghanistan ? Than we would have something to complain about . I’am more inclined to believe Russia is telling the truth and NATO is just making excuses for their failure .
Oh, sorry I was being a little sarcastic.
Its as you say, NATO making excuses, but spinning the truth (Taliban is using Russian leftovers and captured weapons) as a lie. The Russians are obviously not deliberately supplying the Taliban deliberately with weapons, or for that matter, staging the weapons they do supply for Taliban capture.
This is a great video to see how much a Obama Admin Admiral is really a dumb puppet who is just reading a script and has no idea of what he is reading.

Why is the NORTH ATLANTIC TREATY ORGANIZATION involved in a war in Afghanistan? Is Afghanistan anywhere near the North Atlantic? WTF???
And why is it that the more we are involved over there the more opium comes out of there?
Maybe it’s time to stop asking the question and move to supplying the answer Georgy.
Or is it that Trump’s words during his campaign speeches has clouded the facts that you have always known to be true about Nato?
Did you believe Trump when he said he would disband Nato because it was worthless?
Did you believe Trump when he said he would force other nations to pay for the protection the US gave them through Nato membership?
Did you think that Nato was something other than the US military arm that gave the US legitimacy in attacking other countries?
Because they are not really the north Atlantic treaty organization , They are the North American terrorist organization run out of the USA
The more likely routes are via Pakistan and Iran, but hey, if the Russians are helping the Taliban, that’s great. I wouldn’t be surprised, after all the Taliban are against the opium harvests that flood into Russia and enrich Western mercenaries with blood money. Taliban will ultimately win. An alliance between Russia and the Taliban would not be surprising.
