Fighting continued again in Syria’s northern city of Aleppo, and while it was reportedly even worse than days past the predicted “decisive” battle is still not on, with both sides adding reinforcements as fast as they can and civilians pouring out of town before the powderkeg blows up.
The US State Department, apparently no longer content to wait until things happen in Syria to condemn them, issued a condemnation of the Syrian military for engaging in battle preparations in Aleppo, saying they believed they were planning a “massacre.”
Rhetoric aside, however, Aleppo is Syria’s largest city and its financial hub, and both rebels and regime see the upcoming battle as a “must win.” Both sides are also predicting victory, although the regime is likely to have to rely more on tanks and air support while the rebels will be hoping their recent advantage in urban combat carries over.
The exact timing of the main Battle for Aleppo is unclear, but some sources have been reported in the media saying that fighting is likely to begin in earnest on Friday or Saturday. The rebels say they have avoided taking any serious losses in the clashes so far, and insist that virtually everyone killed has been a civilian. Since they make this claim any time there is a battle this isn’t necessarily a huge revelation, however.
The "massacre" the US fears in Aleepo is the FSA getting their butt kicked again like it happened in Damascus in operation volcano. With Damascus lost it's time for Plan B for the FSA in their attempt of finally gaining control of a city. The FSA will be exposed as weaklings if they lose Aleppo too.
Funny how the Syrian government and army is about to collapse and then suddenly the US fears a massacre. They said the same thing in Libya but the only massacres came from the al Qaeda the US supported against Gadaffi. NATO won't be able to serve as air support so the cowardly al Qaeda will end up defeated and the US will look ridiculous. So will the Saudis. Now we will hear all these al Qaeda complain about being betrayed by their monarchy. May Allah help the House of Saud upon al Qaeda's return to Saudi Arabia.
My understanding is that the Syrian military has surrounded the isolated "neighborhoods" the 'peaceful protesters' (aka. the "Free Syrian Army") infiltrated from outside the City–specifically from the mountains…on foot…which is consistent with reports by the 'embedded' western 'journalists' traveling with the 'peaceful protesting' FSA). The Syrian Military has surrounded these surprise "peaceful protests" as to contain the noise of the 'peaceful protesters' firing their AK-47s and RPGs. Since the Brutal deranged Assad is a 'Dictator', it goes without saying he is taking advantage of minor City ordinance violations to justify an impending 'attack' ('massacre' to be specific) he is currently planning to carry out on the "peaceful protesters"–which primarily consists of women and children.
Even so, being the dirty, lying, deceptive, Dictator he is, the Syrian military has apparently been ordered to give time for non-"peaceful protesting" FSA 'supporters' to evacuate these 'neighborhoods' before launching an all out offensive–at which point the "peaceful protesting" FSA children will get steamrolled (the impending "massacre" predicted)–unless, of course, outside world powers find it in their hearts to do something about it.
It's also my understanding the Government of Syria is providing assistance to many of these 'Syrian People' evacuating these "neighborhoods" and helping them relocate to many places–one being the Campus of the University of Aleppo…
But it's only a matter of time now…the "peaceful protesters" will take the City…
Don't see how the rebels can win. It's like classic "how to not conduct a guerrilla war." You don't take and hold large cities without heavy weapons or aircraft. You just invite the army to "fix and destroy": Fix the enemy, cut off escape routes, destroy the enemy.
Oh and don't forget, the noise and name-calling by the "protesters" is about to make the Syrian army and government crumble too.
The Syrian war was supposed to last not more eve a year, as in Libya, NATO and US calculated wrong, the Syrian people are still at war and Hillary Clinton lost her bet on regime change.
These wars are orchestrated, calculated by those whom are benefitting of such wars and those whom have hidden agendas. US is losing all its wars in middle east and Afghanistan, the Europeans government cannot afford a long term wars as Afghanistan any longer; therefore, they were looking for a quick wars, changing regimes hoping for the best by using al quaeda and alike mercenaries as in Libya and they got Libya by lying to its people and people all over the world.
Syria is different, Syrian people won’t allow no foreign country or its “subsidies" control the Syrian peoples life nor their feature, therefore and once again the Syria war is one of those lost situation for US losing it before they even starting it.
But I have to give it to Hillary Clinton, David Cameron, Sarkozi, Hollandaise, the not so Angle Markell of Germany and all others,, you are bunch of very good lier, you are so good that even you believe in your lies.
Now that the Syrian government have given the opportunity to FSA to stop fighting is not a sign in democracy, then it is the US and NATO responsibility if such “massacre” takes place.
