Following up on Saudi airstrikes north of the Yemeni capital of Sanaa, Saudi warplanes continued into the weekend, targeting the al-Dailami air base near the capital’s international airport. Details on casualties and damage are still emerging, but this is a common enough target for the Saudis.
Saudi airstrikes have been both a common tactic in the war, and a major source of civilian casualties in Yemen. It’s not clear this attack killed any civilians, though generally if it had the Saudis wouldn’t comment anyhow.
Though the air base at one point held some missiles, it’s not clear what is there this far into the Saudi invasion, and with the attack part of general retaliation for the Houthis hitting Saudi Arabia with a missile, it’s likely mostly about a show of force against the capital city.
Houthi officials dismissed the strike, saying that Saudi attacks will only increase their determination to continue to resist.
