At least six people were killed and 10 others wounded Monday night in a flurry of Israel missile strikes against southern Syria. These are the first reported Israeli strikes inside Syria in several weeks.
As is so often the case, Israel is not commenting on the strikes directly, but Syrian state media confirmed the incident, noting two of the dead and seven of the wounded were Syrian soldiers who were hit in the strike.
Three foreign militia members were also among the slain, as was a civilian. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights speculated that the attacks targeted Hezbollah in the area, though Israel has yet to confirm this.
That would be in keeping with many of the Israeli strikes in recent months, which rarely are meant to target the Syrian military, but rather hit Shi’ite militia groups like Hezbollah, or Iraq’s Shi’ite organizations. Israel tends to present any Shi’ites killed as “Iranian,” even though in practice there are few actual Iranians among them.
All these strikes over several years have not removed Iran from Syria so Israel has failed its objective & will continue to do so.
We don’t know if Iran in Syria would have been bigger if unchecked, smaller if not provoked, or pretty much the same because it is pinpricks so far to them. That is “what if” speculation.
Yes, but of course it’s the fault of the Syrians. If only they would just let America and Israel rule them they would have peace and prosperity.
96% of Syrian deaths were caused by Assad’s forces.
Yes. And every time that Trump hinted he would pull out American troops, Assad really did use chemical weapons on the Syrian people. The truth is he really likes the fact that we are in his country illegally. And now that we are stealing his oil? By golly he’s in seventh heaven. Do me a favor, tell your neocon propaganda to someone else.
I’ll go out on a limb and say that is flat ass bullshit. Please provide a link.
Hezbollah just issued a statement that it would kill one Israel soldier for every Hezbollah soldier killed.
I’m sure they would if they could. So far, they’ve struggled to manage more like 10:1.
The danger of course is that they might well try if this keeps up. They don’t have to come over the Lebanese border. The West Bank offers increasing de-stabilization for them to exploit. The desert of Egypt’s Sinai was in the past a place exploited. Hezbollah need not move to confront Israel’s strongest position, it can choose the most vulnerable.
Push and push and push, and something will give.
Bashar to Bibi: “No worries.”
