At least one Syrian soldier was killed Monday when US attack helicopters attacked a Syrian army checkpoint in Qamishli. The attack was related to an incident involving a US patrol convoy, though details are disputed.
The Pentagon account says that the convoy went through the checkpoint without incident, but that there had been an argument. After this, there was unconfirmed report of small arms fire, and the US attacked the checkpoint.
If the patrol was allowed through the checkpoint, it’s not clear why the US would attack it. Either way, officials suggested it was in “self defense.” US officials denied any airstrikes, above and beyond the helicopter gunships.
Qamishli is a Kurdish city, and the Syrian Army is there by invitation to keep the Turkish military out.
Fine. How about the Syrians tell the Kurds the US murdered their guards, and just hand over the Kurds to Turkey. The Turks will make short work of them, and the problem will be solved. Lots of dead women and children of course, but that seems to leave the US untroubled wherever it chooses to kill.
Bogus narrative — from the beginning to the end. Qamishli is a Syrian majority town, not Kurdish. The area around it is Syrian Arab as well. When US withdrew, Turkey, Syrian Army and Russian military police took over the entire area once controlled by YPG and bogus SDF forces. Once Turkey and Russia established border patrols through 10 miles corridor, and 30 miles demilitarized zone —YPG cut the deal with Damascus to get protection from Turkey,
Turkey was more then pleased that it did not have to pursue YPG any further. The outcome is – Syrian Army and Russian police control former Kurdish capital, Kobane, and Kurds no longer control towns like Manbij or Raqqa. They were ALWAYS MINORITY there, and its population is less then 1% of Deir Azzor province.
US is trying to stay along Syria-Iraqi border to monitor arms shipments to PKK along this Kurdish triangle – Syria, Turkey, Iraq. This is why Turkey is in Iraq — essentially protecting Peshmerga Kurds from PKK proliferation. Iraqi war and ISIS created territory no state controlled — ideal for arms smuggling.
So — since no Kurds live in Al-Tanf area, or the northwest where this conflict occurred — exactly WHAT BUSINESS WE HAVE USING KURDISH MERCENARIES called SDF if these people actually do not represent ANYONE in Syria.
If somebody could ask the question: what is SDF doing there, and what town, village or hamlet do they represent? The area is under Damascus control, the government is responsible for the entire area health care, pensions, welfare, police. What exactly does SDF do, except hang around US forces, so we have excuse hanging out there — now that ISIS is gone.
The question of legitimacy must be addressed by actual accountability for the population welfare, not by sending provocative patrols.
Any purpose for the patrols? One would think we actually have media that should be competent enough to ask basic questions.
Qamishli, or at least parts of it have been held by the SAA since the start of the civil war, so the SAA is not there by invitation. For example. a few years back during the siege of Deir Ez-zor, reinforcements were flown to Qamishli in transport aircraft then flown to Deir Ez-zor by helicopter. Every now and then the YPG would capture a bit more of the Syrian-controlled territory but threats about odd bits of YPG-controlled territory elsewhere such as the Sheikh Maqsood district of Aleppo. would persuade the YPG to stop.
The problem it was NEVER a Civil war, the US shipped in Foreign Insurgents, the other name for them is Terrorists, they trained them, they funded them and they supplied them with both materiel and Intelligence, The group Al Nusra Front was the previous year known as Al Qaeda in Iraq. the US trained 30 thousand or more of them, and then just after Senator John McCain who was photographed with them, A US Senator in Syria illegally inspecting US trained Insurgents on foreign Soil, around 20,000 of these insurgents split from the Al Qaeda group that they were and called them self ISIS. We must also realize that the US have been funding several groups in the region, many of them actually fighting each other, including groups that also fight their NATO ally Turkey. The US has no lawful reason to be there in fact just the opposite they are in fact doing what Germany was charged with war crimes for doing, Waging unlawful war!
I can tell you what the SDF did. They finished the ISIL jihadis while your Sultan wasnt willing to fight ISIL, but was willing to support this islamist murderers and rapers.
So “bianca” no one needs your turkish views, you no nothing about kurds and except this cheap turkish propaganda BS.
According to a field report from the Al-Hasakah Governorate, the U.S. military attempted to bypass the Syrian Army’s “Rasho Checkpoint”, when they were ordered to turn around.
The U.S. Coalition and Syrian Army traded words and then the two parties exchanged gunfire; this would lead to an American military chopper targeting the Rasho Checkpoint southeast of the city of Al-Qamishli.

No matter how the US is spinning the incident as selfdefense, the US and it`s puppet coalition have no mandate from the UN or the Syrian government to be in Syria, therefore all US/Coalition actions are illegal and criminal.
This is the same United States that is sanctioning the Russians for Annexing Crimea, and for helping the Two eastern Oblasts in Ukraine, but they the United States are annexing Syrian Sovereign Territory and handing it to another Group, doesn’t anyone see the Irony in their actions!
