The exact terms haven’t been announced, but Iranian officials are reporting that they are close to finalizing a major deal with China that would expand security ties, and greatly expand economic ties, including in the all-important banking sector.
This stands to benefit both China and Iran considerably, but runs counter to US interests in isolating both of them internationally, leading the State Department to oppose the deal and threaten to impose more costs on Iran and China if they try to make the deal.
Despite US anger, Iran keeps looking to make deals with other nations the US is hostile toward. Recent trade with Venezuela has been met with a furious US backlash. Similar anger can be expected with this new deal with China.
And yet, while US sanctions, particularly banking sanctions, have given them the ability to dictate most ties for those nations, China has a strong enough system to flat out defy the US, and the State Department’s sanctions likely are to be of minimum value.
The deal would give China a huge presence across Iran’s economy, including telecommunications, ports, railways, and banking. In return, they would be given a substantial discount in buying Iranian oil over the next 25 years.
China is heavily dependent on Mideast oil, and getting access, especially at a discount, from Iran would be a big economic advantage. It might also force other nations to start resisting US restrictions.
China would also agree to joint training with Iran, and joint weapons research. China likely wants a foothold in Iran to ensure the flow of oil, while a Chinese presence probably will lessen the risk of US or Israeli military attacks on Iran.
That may be an even bigger problem for the US, as recent war-making has shown a strategy of weakening nations with years or decades of sanctions and then rolling in essentially unopposed.
The end of US hegemony is near…!
It’s not ending anytime soon. We will stop playing nice unless these countries come around to our way of doing things.
Today Minneapolis, tomorrow the world…
Since when have we been “playing nice”, you little Rambo wannabe ?
Your way of doing things!! Killing civilians left and right is a sick way of doing things. There’s no honor in this sort of things.
Just a little collateral damage occurs from time to time. Unavoidable consequences. As long as we get the main targets it is acceptable.
Acceptable to whom? Warmongers and murderers?
you described the usa perfectly.
When we nuked japan everyone was applauding. It actually saved more lives than it cost. Same principles apply today with these upstart little countries who start stuff.
straight from maddie albrights lips.
isn’t that the usa way?
lol lol truth spoken. its the usa way. bully, bribe threaten. then destroy.
Wonderful to see countries standing up to the great immoral bully that is the USA.
We will crush any country that violates our sanctions and helps these upstart wannabee regimes who are wallowing in evil.
Suggest you take back City Hall here in NYC and downtown Portland, OR as well before you start working your magic on China, Syria,Iran etc..
More fun to pick on third world countries like those three.
Yeah , for bullies and sadists hurting those who cannot fight back is fun and showcases their power. But the weak and those who refuse to be bullied often make common cause to resist and make victimizing them costly. It’s recurring theme in The Art of War and other works examining cost & bennefit realities. The towering costs of keeping every feckless satrap towing the line is the principal cause of the demise of these empires. The costs grow at an exponential rate, while the benefits decline are linear, As in the average price the U.S. & it’s “coalition of the wiling” paid
can’t ,gotta have scapegoats. lol
Thats right.. WE are the only regime that gets to wallow in evil and the blood of innocents.
I can never tell if your posts are sarcasm or if you really believe the stuff you post.
looks too much like sarcasm to not be. lol
sarcasm is right on. lol
The US economy, sovereign, is being slammed hard by the cost of its military adventurism while itsdomestic manufacturing, agricultural and even its digital are finding no markets on world scene.
For last 10 years+ the only real productive economics of US has been its oil, gas, military arms sales, and minerals, all for export.
oil and mineral extractions are in largest part done not by US corporate but internationals and even production of its military small arms has large foreign interest involved.
Its digital advances are largely domestic, although lagging behind China , and is highly dependent upon one tiny nations expertise, Israel.
As for engineering on macro scales, buildings, ships, air , bridges, water control, and rail or auto transport, solar power developement, lag way behind many Asian and European capabilities.
Agriculturaly US has gone from export to an import status, and still finds massive resistance by foreign concerns towards buying out chemicly enhanced beef, pork and chickens.
Our military basing buys more foreign foods fuel and uses an ever increasing dependence upon corporate military and digital contractors and many are not actually based in US but have only corporate lobby staffs there.
Worlds most expensive embassy. US Green Zone in Irag cost 12 millions a month to support just for supplies from foreign nations; average pay for enbassy staff 3x higher than.normal State Dept wages and extra luxurious accomodations.
Diego Garcia? A joint Brit and US stolen Islands budget is not even known but is one if not top luxurious Military Installations on earth.
A non self supporting domestic economy that is dependent upon sovereign handouts and nations ability to borrow and steal poorer nations resources by military conquest does not bode well for future of 60% of a largely unskilled american workforce where true unemployment and unemployable.are non essentials.
Looks good on them.
The pending roadmap for strategic partnership between Iran and China is to help ditch the dollar in bilateral trade and bypass illegal and unilateral US sanctions.
There should be mutual defense pact for China, Russia, Iran, Pakistan. Turkey would be smart to join.
Turkey is already in NAT0, both the US and NAT0 countries would never allow Turkey to be in a defense pact with China and Russia. Besides, Turkey funds and supports various terror groups ( Sunni & Takfiri ) in Idlib/Syria and Libya.
NATO is no longer as solidly behind US UK as it was before 1991. Slowly ,led by US demand of being granted exceptions ,it has created a great many fissures ,softer versions of disagreements ,and outright disregard on various occasions. Some of them are enduring . It is becoming like EU.
And this is the reason for the new Cold War against China. It has nothing whatsoever to do with the Uighurs.
Of course. It is always about power and money. Human rights are off the table. Both sides agree on that.
“The deal would give China a huge presence across Iran’s economy, including telecommunications, ports, railways, and banking. In return, they would be given a substantial discount in buying Iranian oil over the next 25 years.”
Geez, you mean Iran actually has plans for improving their infrastructure? My Allah, they seem like a normal country. The way we talk they only invest in terrorism and building imaginary nukes.
This is what we mean when we insist on Iran becoming a normal nation acting within the system. Stop spending in your countries interests and turn everything over to the bank hysters like SA then US then most of the rest of the world.
These are dangerous times. A hundred years ago the linkage between localized disputes – though over vital interests – led to the first global war. Today, China has vital strategic interests in Iran. An American attack on Iran would be an attack on China.

Glad to see the rest of the world giving the finger to the schoolyard bully.
The US needs to get its own house in order instead of continuing to try to bully the rest of the world.
How is this US business? If US does not wish to have relations with Iran — and has unresolved issues, this does not affect the world in any way. If US wants to indulge in cancel culture, and tell others to cancel Iran —this may be an obligation for US teenage friends, but what obligation it conveys in others.
It became very difficult to follow what exactly is the issue — what does US want from Iran?
No neighboring countries are clamoring for US to do something. Iraq is particularly not keen.
So, with a muddle that is called Iranian issue — now US cannot resist and tell China and Iran what to do.
its isn’treal’s issue, therefore the usa puppets must also demonize iran.
The standard vulgar blather from the evil Empire
“….It might also force other nations to start resisting US restrictions…..
…… while a Chinese presence probably will lessen the risk of US or
Israeli military attacks on Iran….”
bingo, Jason! good points
the US, israel and the feudal Saudis must be looking on, powerless, and furious
If China and Iran can create a profitable relationship and show others the way, it will make us look bad. We in the US had better come to our senses and stop with the violent threats and the war mongering and improve our image by learning to play fair in this world before its to late.
America is once again acting like a mad dog with no teeth. Americans need to realize they are yesterday news. Time for them to move out of the way.
uh oh, see how the mighty fall. the idiots running the usa would rather bully and threaten than cooperate in peace and benefit everyone.
