Following a meeting with South Korean President Moon Jae-in, who had just finished up with a visit to North Korea, President Trump predicted that an announcement would be made “pretty soon” on his own second summit with North Korea’s Kim Jong-un.
Kim made clear during his meetings with Moon that he was interested in a second direct summit with Trump, and officials had already confirmed that talks were underway to make that happen.
Trump revealed today that he expects the planning to be done soon, but added that there is still no decision on where the new summit will be held. Trump and Kim previously invited one another to visit their respective capitals, but nothing ever came of this.
Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is expected to visit North Korea very soon, on what is likely to be another effort to get this summit together. Pompeo had previously been reported to be going imminently, but now says he hopes to arrive in North Korea “before the end of the year.”
But first, a couple rounds of goof and a cheeseburger.
