Russia’s Defense Ministry announced Wednesday that the planned delivery of an S-300 air defense system to Syria will be completed in the “near future,” They did not provide an exact date, though Russia is interested in shoring up Syria’s air defense capability.
That’s because on April 13, the US, France, and Britain attacked Syria, firing over 100 Tomahawk missiles at them along with other airstrikes. Syria intercepted many with its more primitive systems. Russia said the attacks removed all hurdles for providing Syria with the much better S-300.
Israeli officials are outraged, as they are any time Russia offers to sell any nation in the region the S-300. Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman has said the military will destroy the S-300 outright if Syria dares to fire on any of their warplanes. Syria has only occasionally fired on Israeli warplanes, and then only when they are raiding Syrian airspace and bombing Syrian targets.
With their advanced capabilities, the S-300s have been very popular Russian exports, and are seen as capable of directly challenging US-made warplanes flying in their airspace. For Russia, this is very much the point, attempting to deter future US attacks.

Russia already supplied Ukraine with anti-aircraft missiles. Including the kind used to shoot down Malaysia Airlines Flight MH-17.

No “admission” involved. I’ve been pointing out that very few people know who did it (and that I’m not one of them, nor likely are any commenters here among them) since it happened.
If I had to guess, I would guess that it was either:
1) The troops fighting for the seceded states mistaking the radar blip for something other than a commercial passenger aircraft; or
2) The Ukrainian regime doing something they hoped to blame on (1) so as to curry support from other states.
The Russians seem like a very marginal possibility insofar as a) they presumably were able to tell what the aircraft was and b) shooting it down offered no conceivable benefit to them. But that doesn’t meant it COULDN’T have been them.
So why don’t you stay on the MSM sites where your type can have a circle jerk with all those other patriots that believe the spoon fed bullshit they are receiving?

Defense is what Israel always says they need as a matter of sovereignty and national security, now Syria gains some defensive capability and Israel howls with indignation.
It is clearly time that some diplomacy was enacted in the region and the American cover for Israeli crimes end.
