On the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, and following President Obama’s comments warning that Israel could not just keep occupying Palestinian territory forever, the president met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and by all accounts avoided all things Palestine.
Obama made one mention of being concerned about Israel’s massive settlement expansion, and that was basically the end of it, with Israeli officials referring to it as a “light-hearted” meeting at which the two got alone better than they’ve tended to throughout their respective administrations.
White House officials claimed Obama had raised other concerns behind closed doors, but didn’t want to make them publicly, while Israeli officials claimed Netanyahu had told Obama that the settlements were totally no big deal and that the Palestinians were the real problem.
Whatever happened behind the scenes, it was clear both sides were eager to put on a show of getting along really well in the wake of signing a record military aid deal last week, in which the US will be giving Israel $38 billion in arms over the next decade.
Quite true, Israel cannot keep occupying more Palestinian land forever: there will eventually no more Palestinian land left to occupy, and all will have been stolen by Israel. Meanwhile, it is a safe bet that neither Obama nor any future US President will do anything about this historic land theft, beyond expressing “concern” in “light-hearted” discussions with whatever Israeli Prime Minister is handing our President his/her lunch.
[behind closed doors]
Obama: [pouring martinis] I’m gonna miss these shell-game theatrics. It was fun while it lasted, Benny.
Netanyahu: Yeah. Real fun.
Obama: What a show last yeah, eh? We had ’em convinced we weren’t joined at the hip.
Netanyahu: Hollywood’s worth more than just a silver screen. We had our best scribes on it.
Obama: I look forward to the drama premiering this November. Any spoilers for the CiC?
Netanyahu: [coughs] Well, let’s just say we’ll keep things interesting in your streets. [pauses after taking martini in hand] It’s amazing just how taken by illusion your people are.
Obama: Yeah, that it is. [raises glass] Next year in Jerusalem.
Netanyahu: L’khaim.
[glasses clink]
Amazing š
Netanyahu: Yes Mr. President, I thank you on behave of the Israeli people for the $38 billion but Iām still going to need that blowjob.
And although we promised not to seek any more aid for a 10 year period, we’ll do it anyway. We needed $50 billion, and we’ll sue to get it.
Interesting.
I plugged a few phrases from your cut/copy/paste “comments” into Google.
They don’t just appear here on Antiwar.com, they appear elsewhere.
And they don’t just appear under this Disqus account, but under at least one other.

Thank you for pointing that out Mr.Knapp people who comment on these matters need to realize this is serious discussion and original opinions
I’am so sorry but I just could not control myself . I bet I just gave another un approved comment . So sorry if I messed up your no 1 agenda other than Antiwar .
I see all my comments were posted I didn’t expect you to be able to take any criticism . Thank you very much and God bless you all
All of your comments were posted — the one with content and the three whining that your comments probably wouldn’t be posted.
Obama is wise .He did not want to be kicked on face by Netanyahu. He kept silence on Palestine.
“I often side with Israel. You never do.”
I’m not sure who you’re referring to with the “you.”
I’m an anarchist, so I never, ever, ever side with a state. Israel is not singled out in that respect.
In fact, I used to be moderately pro-Israel (and criticized for it quite a bit here) until I became convinced on the basis of the evidence that Israel is just another ethno-religious apartheid state.
There are a lot of anti-Zionists here.
There are a few anti-Semites here, too. They know that Antiwar.com won’t put up with that shit, so they generally mind their manners. When they don’t, my job is to send them to stand in the corner until they behave themselves, and if that doesn’t work to show them the door. The same goes for other hate speech.
