Freed Spanish journalist Javier Espinosa has provided some of the most intimate details of ISIS’ detention policies for western hostages yet, describing the facility the group is building as an attempt to replicate the US facility at Guantanamo Bay.
“They had this project for a long time,” Espinosa said, “they told us at the beginning they wanted to intern Westerners in a high-security prison with cameras and lots of guards.”
The site, north of Aleppo, held as many as 23 Westerners at any given time, including Europeans, Americans, Latin-Americans, and humanitarian workers from elsewhere.
The detainees were subjected to repeat mock executions, and forced to look at pictures of other detainees who had been executed, being told they were likely to be next.
Jeez! If I were evil, I'd shut that operation down as fast as possible. The 'evil' I'd be selling for do-gooders to destroy (rather than myself) absolutely must not be allowed to look so much like me.
They learned from the best.
What I don't get, if the prisoners know about the executions why do they passively go along with the charade, reading the scripts and so on?
Jeez before you know it they'll have their prisoners in prolonged stress positions, having to endure music being blared at them for hours on end- they might even be waterboarded for information or *gasp* sexually abused or placed in compromising positions. Some of them might be lucky enough to get a collar and leash.
