One would have thought that US would be rethinking aid to rebels in Syria after the latest rebel faction, ISIS, seized large portions of Iraq. That’s not the case, according to Armed Services Committee Chair Sen. Carl Levin (D – MI).
Instead Levin, who advocates escalation of US aid to the rebels, says he believes Iraq has the administration taking a more “forward-leaning position in Syria,” and increasing its aid to rebel factions there.
He argued that the US was trying to blunt ISIS influence by arming other rebel factions, though none of the other rebel factions seem to be able to seriously contest ISIS control of the country’s east.
If anything, the US throwing arms at the other rebel factions seems likely to get ISIS access to even more American weapons than they’ve already looted from Iraq, since they control many of the border crossings and can demand a cut of the arms for letting them through.

Yeah, Washington/Obama know that. Sponsoring/supporting terrorism is not like a new thing for the USA.
Supporting ISIS allies in Syria while getting ready to attack ISIS in Iraq…what could be more representative of the absurdity of US Middle east "policy"?
It's not absurd. They just don't care about friends or loyalty, and they use humans for whatever they want. It's like a poker game where most players have a few hundred dollars, and one guy has fifty trillion. He basically can just gradually take people out, using his resources any way he wants, without worrying about anything.
Sen. Levin appears to have fallen off the deep end, those so-called "moderate rebels" are no match for ISIS and at some point they will either surrender to ISIS or join them.
Hasn't ISIS already demonstrated the ability and willingness to overrun other "rebel faction" bases in Syria, and loot their supply dumps?
Come on, people. Levin takes his direction from Jerusalem and Jerusalem wants regime change in Syria – or at a minimum complete destruction of the country. Levin wants the US supplying anyone who will fight Assad.
Levin provides more evidence for why only seven percent of the US public think the US Congress is doing a good job.
I think all of this is rather historic. A great moment, gentlemen, and pretty much exactly 100 year since the start of the European Deflagration.

In today's McLaughlin report Mort Zuckerman had the balls to say that the reason we must continue fighting in the Middle East was oil! What a crock! As though we did not have enough oil of our own and that to the cost of the oil from the Middle East we did not have to add the cost of our gunboat diplomacy, the cost of paying foreign aid, the cost of Israel to the United States and the 'blowback' resulting from our interfering over there in general.
