Pentagon officials have issued a statement claiming Russia had violated Ukrainian airspace “on several occasions in the last 24 hours,” calling the moves dangerously destabilizing.
They provided no details on exactly where the putative violations happened, and interestingly Ukrainian officials made no similar allegations of their own, suggesting they didn’t see it as a big deal.
Which is difficult to imagine, assuming the violations actually happened, as Ukraine has at every opportunity hyped every perceived Russian slight, openly talking about an imminent start of World War 3.
The lack of details may suggest the “violations” occurred in or around the Crimean Peninsula, which Russia has annexed but which the US is still recognizing as Ukrainian territory, and subsequently Ukrainian airspace.
