European Union Parliamentary President Martin Schulz says he was surprised today when his extremely pro-Israel speech at the Israeli Knesset fueled furious outrage from Israeli hawks, with many of them storming out in the middle of the speech.
Schulz pledged EU loyalty to Israel, saying the Arab Spring had led to “crises” that the EU and Israel could tackle together. He then stated his support for a peace deal with the Palestinians, and an end to the Gaza blockade.
At which point Jewish Home’s entire parliamentary contingent got up and made a very public show of walking out. Some Likud MPs refused to attend in the first place because Schulz made the speech in German.
That’s because Schulz, a long-time EU parliamentarian, is German. He speaks some other languages, but Hebrew is not one of them, and that was in and of itself a source of “outrage” for some.
Jewish Home leader and Economics Minister Naftali Bennett insisted the characterization of the Gaza situation as a “blockade” was also offensive and a “lie,” even though Israeli officials regularly characterize it the exact same way, just with a more positive attitude toward it.
That's what you get for giving speeches in front of the knesset, which you have no business doing, Schulz.
Given that most MKs are ignorant arrogant yahoos, who are beyond reasoned discussion, I agree with you.
If bending over backwards isn't enough to appease them, what is?
Bending over forward,maybe?
He baited them, they reacted predictably, accordingly.
Probably Schultz shouldn't haven't spoken of peace – must be a dirty word when translated into Hebrew.
It is way past time to flush this turd down the toilet. Of course I mean Israel.
Sounds like the Israeli extremists are panicking. Probably the result of the US fiasco in Ukraine. As America's decline becomes ever more obvious, the Israelis must be getting ever more scared.
They have their own passionate attachments. Norman G. Finkelstein's The Holocaust Industry 2000, p. 55: "Articulating the key Holocaust dogmas, much of the literature on Hitler's Final Solution is worthless as scholarship…Holocaust studies is replete with nonsense, if not sheer fraud."

Martin Schulz does not speak for Europeans, only for himself. Europe is getting to grips via vis their atonement to the crimes they committed against the Palestinians.
