With the ongoing “war within a war” among northern Syrian rebel factions the center of combat right now, reports say that Russia is using the opportunity to resupply the Syrian military.
Russian officials have yet to confirm the arms shipments, but sources quoted in Reuters say the supplies have included helicopter parts, armored vehicles, and guided bombs.
The US State Department said the reports were “concerning if true,” but Russia’s shipments have been primarily defensive in nature, and don’t violate international laws.
The pickup in shipments was such that some say Russia has likely been buying up surplus Soviet-era gear from Bulgaria, Romania and Ukraine to send there. Bulgaria has so far denied any involvement in the shipments.
Russians are doing everything they can help to defeat militant Islamists since they have a bad experience with jihad. It should be done by any nation claiming to fight against terror. Instead US allies in Qatar and Saudi Arabia are cheerfully paying large sums of money to their respective groups of professional butchers in their pursuit of Sunni domination in Syria.
Good on Russia. Good on Putin.

Tony, I wouldn't use the word "dictator" when mentioning the middle east. In biblical times they only had Kings, Queens, and Rulers that govern those countries which is a tradition and their culture, and for most part, the people were happy and free. Look what happen when you get rid of those so-called "Dictator"….Mayhem, if you were thinking about "Democracy" it doesn't work in the middle east, and history will attest to that.
You are funny Tony. So you accept that after 43 years of al-Assad (Alawite) Sunnis are majority in Syriia. That looks to good to be true. What would you get if crazy Sunnites take over? Would you be able to find even one Christian alive? Would you find even one Alawite alivee? Not after 43 years of rule – it would takeee just a couple of years to make Syria Sunnistan.
