59 Senators are now down as “yes” votes for the Iran sanctions bill, which would effectively end diplomacy with the nation and which President Obama has warned is an effective push for war with Iran.
That’s enough to ensure the vote passing, but with President Obama vowing a veto, it is the “undecided” members of the Senate that are really important now, as they represent the potential veto override votes.
Two Republican Senators, Rand Paul (R – KY) and Jeff Flake (R – AZ), are the sole undecided members of their party, but both have recently suggested that they are open to the idea of voting for the sanctions, and Sen. Flake in particular suggested that the ongoing disputes over the interim agreement might be enough to secure his support for the sanctions.
Sen. Paul’s office also suggested he was more or less in favor of the sanctions, though he wouldn’t commit to a yes vote depending on the timing of the vote.
With neither yet a committed “yes,” there is still time to persuade Sens. Flake and Paul to support diplomacy instead of the path toward war with Iran. You can contact Sen. Paul’s office at 202-224-4343 and Sen. Flake’s office at 202-224-4521.
Our lawmakers will destroy our country
Those two should be thankful that Senator Reid is saving their indecisive bacon for now. If this bill goes to a vote it will answer once and for all who Rand Paul is loyal to.
Are you kidding. This egoistic phony is running for president. Presidential candidates in this country are Israel firsters.
There goes the darling of Justin Raimondo. It had to happen sooner or later.
It is not a war WITH Iran …it is a war against Iran
why cannot you people ever get that right
More like war ON Iran. If you can even call an provoked, unilateral attack against a much weaker victim a "war".
Sens. Paul and Flake are holding out for "additional" AIPAC money. As soon as the funding hits an acceptable amount, they'll be on board the war wagon.
What is truly sickening is how little money it takes to put a US senator or representative in AIPAC's pocket. Typically, a member of Congress can be bought for less than $100,000, and even the best bribed get less than one million. Not much to betray their country and their people.
Yes, indeed. You knew about Paul after his Israel trip sometime back. He's courting the premillenial dispensationalist vote and he thinks this will put the icing on the cake for him.
Im really starting to dislike Rand Paul
Rand Paul is a particularly dangerous imposter.
Regardless of the timing, one would have to be a complete moron to claim to be undecided on sanctions.
Because of Sen. Paul's announcement, here and at other times, he cannot be trusted. Claiming to be undecided demonstrates a lack of principle…a lack of passion for a cause.

Paul the Flake
I have more faith in Rand Paul to know what he is doing. We do not know what else is going on. I ran across this blurb. for example. What doe it mean?
"Other senators—including Republicans Tom Coburn and Rand Paul—are objecting to the barring of amendments, and Sen. Mitch McConnell has yet to say whether he'll back the plan, in part over concerns about bringing forward Iran sanctions legislation."
What in the hell is wrong with this younger Paul? Has money or threats driven him into ISRAEL's hands?
My, my, my. Corruption sure is contagious there in the Swamp. Must be money involved. Now, if we follow the money I just can't imagine where it would lead. Who would imagine they stand to gain anything from such a turn of events as war on Iran… hmmmm. Just can't possibly feature it.
Rand Paul the Libertarian hero of just a few years ago?
