US officials have confirmed they are suspending all direct aid to Syrian rebels in the nation’s north, including both weapons and non-lethal aid, citing the growing Islamist control over the area.
The move to suspend the shipments has been expected for some time, after a late November shipment to a Free Syrian Army (FSA) warehouse ended with al-Qaeda seizing the entire shipment, the warehouse, and several members of the FSA.
The warehouse was a key stop on the supply line through Turkey into Syria’s northwest, and with al-Qaeda taking more and more border towns, sending goods through them virtually guarantees the Islamists will take some or all of it.
Officials say it is “too early to say” if the halt will be permanent, and that it won’t impact humanitarian aid, which is delivered by international NGOs.
The Turkish government should be ashamed letting these mercenaries having a free passage into Syria, unless the Turkish government is striving for a Al-Queada stats in northern Syria. If US and EU governments are interested and truly are in fight with terrorism then they should arm the Syrian government instead of FSA or others. Syria is the graveyard of these mercenaries no matter where they are from, is just that the fight against terrorism will end sooner if EU and USG did wake up an sow their interests is not with Wahhabis but rather with the people of Syria.
"…US and EU governments are interested and truly are in fight with terrorism…"
They're not…never have been…never will be…they are themselves purveyors of terrorism.

Having aided and abetted the revolt from the very beginning, it is hypocritical of the Obama Administration to demonstrate concern over the growing strength of Islamic radicals. As pointed out by Patrick Cockburn in his story in the British newspaper The Independent, our “allies” in the Gulf are the very source of al-Qaida’s finances. We went to war with Iraq in 1990 to protect these oil sheiks. We stationed men and arms to secure their thrones. Now, we are in the middle of a potential war with Iran to insure our Arabian friends can continue their charitable donations to some of the most radicalized fanatics. There is no Arab Spring–as the continuation of authoritarian regimes still dominate those we associate with. Tunisia, Libya, and Egypt are not democratic republics. Our invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan are signs of failure of policy rather than political success stories. With all the death and destruction that has befallen the Syrian people, can we really say that the Syrians are better off now than under the rule of Bashar al-Asad?

And those are just the American politicians…
