As has been the case, the NSA surveillance scandal was mostly glossed over on the Sunday news circuit today, with Senators Chuck Schumer (D – NY) and John McCain (R – AZ) instead focusing on starting new diplomatic crises to spite nations involved with Snowden’s escape.
McCain termed Russian President Vladimir Putin’s refusal to immediately capture Snowden and give him to the US a “direct slap in the face,” and insisted that Russia must “pay the price” for its defiance.
Schumer also blasted Russia, but saved his focus for Ecuador, the nation that might conceivably grant Snowden asylum in the face of political persecution by US leadership. Schumer said the US ought to immediately impose sanctions on Ecuador to “dissuade” them from granting Snowden asylum, and also cancelling the existing free trade agreement.
Which apparently Schumer wasn’t keeping a close eye on. Ecuador actually preemptively cancelled the trade pact on Thursday in the face of US threats, saying the deal made it too easy for the US to dictate terms to them every time a disagreement arose.
Ecuador is all ready give up the 20 million dollars annual trade with USA before these senators wanting to "punish" the country.., this is truly a joking politics played by these senators.., first they are late on their "punishments" then it turns out that such punishment punishes USA export so USA needs to start wars to create a new market for its products.., is a on going "punishment" game where USA is the one paying the price in the end, yet no one in this world wants to deal with USA any longer because they are afraid that one day they are going to to be punished.., like the way NSA is punishing Europe.., Saudis, Wahhabis, sallafis, the barbarians, the sunny Muslims terrorist groups and dictatorial regimes as in Turkey, UAE and Egypt are exempt for now.
Here's hoping that Antiwar.com will start another petition to oppose actions like Schumer's. Congress has been either irrelevant, obstructionist, and in pursuit of policies that are detrimental to the national interest and American people, and Senators like Schumer should be called on it.
And who the hell pays attention to these two schmucks? No one but that sorry little tyrant of Correa.
How bored does one have to be to listen to these "Sunday shows" putting out the spin of the day?
