As the handful of Senators and Representatives who were in on the NSA PRISM scheme continue to loudly defend it, the rest of Congress is expressing growing disquiet over the lack of proper oversight, as well as the inability to get straight answers out of people testifying about surveillance programs.
“Congress needs to be informed of what’s going on, and we’re not,” noted Sen. Jon Tester (D – MT), while Rep. Tom Price (R – GA) said every briefing by officials affiliated with the programs ends up with “more questions than answers.”
The complaints about playing “20 questions” with security officials if reflected by the trail of testimony ahead of PRISM being leaked to the public, an array of half-truths and overt lies by officials at every opportunity, with Congressmen saying that they needed to carefully word their questions to try to get snippets of truth out of them.
Nowhere was that more clear than with Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, who gleefully bragged about having given the “least untruthful” lie he could think of after being asked questions he felt were “unfair” and that he didn’t feel like answering.
And you can rest assured, the Congress will do something…
And what are these useless thieves and traitors in Congress going to do about it. When are they going to impeach Obama?
It seems that Congress is feeling the pinch, they are being spied on and they are actually worried! Of course secondary to that constituents are not happy, and that means they have a voter problem!
”Every inclination of their hearts
is only evil all the time”
If every man told the truth it would be a paradise, whereas, if most every man a liar it would be living hell for those who love the truth.
So, did you notice what a big proud smile Clapper had on his face, when he told about the glory of his disgrace?
Hey Congresscritters… haven't you figured it out yet…yet? The Intelligence wonks don't tell you what is going on because…wait…here it comes…They don't trust you to keep your mouths shut!!! What?!?!? Why not?? Because they know that when push comes to shove, you will (accidentally) use (leak) the information to suit your own agendas. They have this mistaken belief that just because the voters in their districts and states have sent them to Washington that they can be trusted with the States' secrets. There is a long trail of litter to justify that mistrust.
and a longer trail of our government not be trustworthy at all
The US gov't is turning into the USSR. Domestic spying, offshore gulags…except our people have more toys and distractions.
It doesn't matter which "Party" is in control. Obama could probably be a more disappointing dickweed, but he certainly wouldn't have to try very hard to do so.
Congress is the most despised group in the country. Bankers rate higher than this scum who just recently reauthorized the police state. They get caught out a little and people are momentarily upset so they go into the fake outrage mode til the press cycle passes.
