According to Israeli media reports, Israeli President Shimon Peres’ informal invitation to President Obama to visit Israel in his second term was met with a response that Obama would only visit if Israel makes meaningful progress with Palestinian peace talks.
Obama last visited Israel in July of 2008, during his campaign for his first term in office. Not every US president visits Israel, but the conditioning of the visit suggests that hard feelings remain toward Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who publicly backed Obama’s opponent, former Gov. Mitt Romney, in the 2012 vote.
Not that US policy toward Israel is expected to change as a result. Sen. John Kerry (D – MA) is expected to visit Israel sometime next month, and his confirmation to Secretary of State is expected to come within a few days.
Kerry says his visit will focus on attempting to restart US-brokered peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians. The talks collapsed in September 2010, when Israel abandoned a partial settlement freeze.
After all that was done to the US president in congress and worldwide by the zionist israelis is it expected from him to now asslick them as all other US politicans do without shame.
Tragedy for Mankind, most embarising moment/event in UN history – establishment of Israel….This deeply tragig political decision made US into "puppy dog " to Israeli Zionism. Obama must be angry inside as he cant do nothing…..Just barks a little time to time, while Israels crazies prepare another False Flag….
How could this happened?, one Evil regime defeated in 1945 – only to make way to Most Dangerous ideology treatening peace again, but this time with their illegal arsenal of undeclared WMD!!!! peter czech
"meaningful progress"!!!!! That's to easy for the Israelis to fudge. Only after a Palestinian state is established, not based on the 67 lines, but along the lines of the 961 B. C. borders between Israel and
Judah. A Palestinian state that has full military defense capabilities
Why would the President of the United States dignify an obnoxious sociopath like Natanyahu with an official state visit after all the insults, boorish behavior and outright hostility that were on display, not only by the ill-advised Israeli Prime Minister, but also his "amen corner" in US Congress?
The "Israel First" riff-raff in the House and Senate should back off and support their own President in stead of dancing on the tables when Natanyahu insults President Obama.
No state visit to Israel!!
You better believe that some malarkey will be pointed to as either demonstrating Israel's efforts to restart the negotiations or Palestinian intransigence, and that Obama will fall for it hook, line and sinker, or will have already orchestrated it behind the scenes in conjunction with the Israeli leadership.
I'll believe it when I see it.
