Speaking at fundraisers tonight in Manhattan, President Obama insisted that his potential GOP rivals wouldn’t be able to claim that either he or the Democrats are “weak on defense” because of his own hawkish positions, which he insisted were a runaway success.
Citing his order to kill Osama bin Laden in a raid on Pakistan as well as following the Bush Administration’s 2012 Iraq deadline, Obama insisted that his foreign policy was about “being tough and strong and protecting the American people” and repeatedly assured donors he was committed to Israel’s security.
Though Obama has of course been dramatically more hawkish in the last four years than his 2008 campaign would have suggested, a number of the Republican rivals pushing for the party’s nomination are positioning themselves as even more aggressive, and have criticized Obama for not starting enough wars during his first term.
I'm sure the Caesars of yore couldn't "touch" the totalitarian state Obama is forging at this moment either.
