A new flyer released by the Department of Justice and the FBI, emblazoned with the logos of each agency and being circulated to Internet cafes and other businesses, warns of “potential indicators of terrorist activities.”
In particular, the flyer cautions businesses to be on the lookout for “content of extreme/radical nature” as well as people who visit an Internet cafe even though there is evidence they have Internet access at home. It also urges people to watch for anyone using “anonymizers, portals, or other means to shield IP address,” or who seems “overly concerned about privacy.”
What’s more, the flyer urges people to be suspicious of those who “always pay cash” and to “identify license plates, vehicle description, names used, languages spoken, ethnicity, etc.”
The flyer concedes near the bottom that “some of the activities, taken individually, could be innocent and must be examined by law enforcement professionals.” Presumably, paying cash isn’t 100% proof that someone is a terrorist, but you’d better note their license plate and ethnicity, just in case.
What a pack of poltroons they are.
I did two of these things yesterday, traveled a long distance to go to starbucks and I paid with cash, I must be a terrorist!
The next question would be your ethnicity, if you are brown you better not do any of those things. Why would a brown person go to Starbucks if there is evidence that he can make coffee at home?
Starbucks supports the occupation so you shouldn't go there in any event.
Even if they didn't, and even if I drank coffee (can't stand the stuff), I certainly wouldn't pay $5+ for something I could make at home for pennies.
Also, places with Internet cafes are starting to clamp down on excessive online use. Many of them now limit how long customers can stay connected. Besides, a public wi-fi portal is extremely insecure, and is therefore the last place anyone would engage in sensitive communications.
this is really scary. we are becoming a gestapo state
Gestapo didn't have this kind of technology.
becoming?
How does one tell if someone has internet access at home?
Your Internet provider will gladly rat you out.
You can smell it on them…
We must all be terrorists now.
Actually, we are all East Germans now.
Ich bin ein New Yorker.
I dare say the real terrorist are those that terrorize and murder people without any conclusive evidence and absolutely no due process.
I think we all know who the enemy really are…
and I believe that we should all arm ourselves for the seems like coming civil war against the elites..
Heaven forbid you should want to check your bank account to see if you can pay your bill at the place where you are, and want to hide your screen so other people can't see how much money you have in there!
** The flyer also, instructed operators to be on the lookout for users going to terrorist websites, ones with radical opinion, ones that oppose the government and or government policies.. Special concern should be manifest if users enter antiwar or conspiracy minded websites **
One must especially be on the lookout for users who visit the Wikileaks site or mirrors. These people are extremely dangerous to governments who claim transparency but only if THEY reveal what it is THEY are doing out of the sight of the citizenry – which is not very often and when done one must wonder what the real motivation and goal is because it surely isn't what they're telling you it is…just sayin'.
You have just been added to every watch list.
or it could mean an interest in porn and drugs…. who the fuck cares to terrorize anything? the internet is the only source of unity we have! the terrorists are the big business interests..
Online privacy is a "Terrorist Indicator"? What the hell..!!! By that psychotic measure of things it paints the US FedGov as being a global terrorist organization seeing as it wants to keep everything it does a secret. No? Do they even realize the size of their Freudian slip?
Here's another winner. "…even though there is evidence they have Internet access at home" Holy non-fat double latte, Batman!. Just how many poseurs at Starbucks or Barnes & Nobel would get swept up with such a broad caffeinated stroke? They're asking someone to be a "terrorista barrista"? Give me a break!
If they weren't doing anything wrong, they would have nothing to hide.
Like the US government, right?
An interest in privacy is an indicator of terrorism.
I don't care.
It's becoming increasingly obvious that the days where people who refuse to go along with their absurd endless lying will be martyred in some for or other are all but upon us.
I will not bow the knee, I will not walk in fear, I will not alter my behaviour.
Its now pretty much official. If you oppose having a powerful state government that's completely out of any popular control that insists on the right to spy on everyone, to arrest anyone, to indefinitely detain anyone, or to outright murder anyone, then you are a terrorist. If you don't submit to the power of the state police to do anything they want, then you are a terrorist.
The list would start with Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, James Madison, James Monroe, Patrick Henry, Sam Adams, Andrew Jackson. At least you'll be in good company. Supporters of Ron Paul have already been officially defined as likely terrorists. Probably because electing Ron Paul seems to be the only hope we have that this might change anytime soon.
It's totally Alice in Wonderland. These people make less sense than crack addicts. It's like our own government considers us the enemy. They're the ones who obviously don't give a fig about the constitution, the rule of law, or personal rights. So who should be worrying about who?
"Like"? Obviously you're still suffering lingering vestiges of denial.
Honestly I think that's a slur against crack addicts to associate them with FedGov goons.
Wonder if they did a "study" to figure that one out haha.
That makes all govt departments, corporations, the FBI, CIA equivalent to terrorist organisations.
Now that the "job creaters" have moved the jobs to China and India, banksters have taken millions of houses, throwing people out into the streets ruining the credit of millions of people I guess they are the terrorists now! OMG! Run!
This is not good! Later today I will buy a minutes card for my pre-paid cellphone (terrorist). I will pay cash (terrorist). Last week I stocked up on canned tomatoes that were on sale and now have a more than 7 day supply (terrorist). I support the Constitution (terrorist). I want the government out of my face (terrorist). I am using the TOR router to hide my IP address (terrorist). I have encrypted my hard drive (terrorist) and finally I am a veteran (extreme terrorist who knows how to shoot back).
" Interest in Online Privacy an ‘Indicator’ of Terrorism " – Sure.
Now I say, that interest in taking away people's rights is an 'Indicator' of Dictatorism.
If you believe the premise of this article than you must truly wonder at the American government that not only demands internet privacy it will destroy individuals who challenge it. I wonder how many terrorist attacks it is planning, oh excuse me I mean covert operations.
Gotta love the anal retentives who rise to power by virtue of the lists they can generate. A desire for privacy is exactly the same thing that motivates this crap – a perceived need for SECURITY. Call it what they will, the first groud the individual needs to be secure from is his own, all-powerful 'government'. It's been that way since the Revolution.
The Feds may be onto something here. About a month ago they caught some spies meeting at a Starbucks. It happened in Lebanon. They spies were C.I.A.. Their names were revealed by Hezbollah. http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2011/dec/13/hezbo…
Yep. Won't be long before breathing becomes a sign of terrorism.
Maybe it's just me but it seems that our government is afraid of ALL of us. It doesn't matter what we do they are worried about what they preceive us doing to them. What is it that their afraid of? Do they think we are going to conspire against them? I hope not because anyone who conspires against the government would certainly not draw up the plans of action in a Starbucks full of people.
What evil has the government done that have them so worried that a citizen of the USA might find out about it? Government who are suspicious of any little thing are definately guilty of something.
It's like a husband constantly accusing his wife of cheating on him only to find that it was the husband cheating all the time.
This is amazing. "What’s more, the flyer urges people to be suspicious of those who 'always pay cash' and to 'identify license plates, vehicle description, names used, languages spoken, ethnicity, etc. ". Does this edict from on high exclude license plates that aren't muddy; vehicles that aren't pickups; accents that aren't Southern; or ethnicities that aren't "Cracker"? Well, if they do, why then it's not profiling.
[Addendum to my just posted comment]: " … as well as people who visit an Internet cafe even though there is evidence they have Internet access at home. It also urges people to watch for anyone using 'anonymizers, portals, or other means to shield IP address,' or who seems 'overly concerned about privacy.' ". Well there goes online banking, business teleconferences, or cheating on your spouse with your laptop at a public portal.
This sort of thing is exactly what happened in Germany when the Nazi Socialist Party began their campaign to pit one citizen against another. It was also done in all countries that are now communist for the same reason.
This is a warning to all US citizens – do not provide dictator Obama with any information on anyone. He is responsible for signing into law recent legislation allowing the federal government to take up arms against US citizens. If you didn’t previously believe the US federal government has been infiltrated by numerous communists, you had better believe it now because there is nothing now standing in Obama’s way to throwing anyone or all of us in jail for the very things on those flyers the DOJ sent out. You must demand of a new Republican President that all laws violating the Constitution signed by Obama be repealed post haste after swearing him into office.
And the FBI is still involved, helping the government to get to user data even without warrant (ref:vpnexpress.net).
