The Palestinian Authority’s effort to shore up support for a September statehood bid gained another boost today with the formal recognition by Syria and comments from Norway FM Jonas Stoere that they support the effort to seek UN recognition.
The growing support for the unilateral move toward statehood comes as Israel once again announced plans to expand settlements in occupied territory, and with no sign that the peace talks are going to happen any time soon.
At the same time, any effort at statehood would be blocked at the UN Security Council by the United States, which vehemently opposes any Palestinian statehood that wasn’t endorsed first by Israel’s far-right government, many of whose leaders oppose statehood on general principle.
But while this veto looms large, Palestinian Authority leader Mahmoud Abbas insists he believes he can circumvent this with a call to the General Assembly. Though this would prevent them from being a full member, it could give them the de facto privileges of a full member.
Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland and in general countries as such knowing that US will veto the Palestinians statehood and if they demand for a total boycott of Israel such move will damage the US Scandinavian country relations.., therefore they agree with whatever Palestinians are saying.., otherwise these countries never been suggesting that Israel needs to be boycotted for a serious negotiations based on Palestinians statehood nor they even been trying at home demanding from their big chain grocery stores ICA and others stop buying Israelis produce. But they are good opportunist when there is a war in Libya then they are good at participating helping US and EU militarism regime.., when there is a war in Afghanistan they are good at participating following the US agendas blaming it on UN vote.., but when it comes to Palestinians they just having a good time suggesting matters that they know is not going to emerge.

The USA took less than 90 days to recognize the Libya rebels while after 68 years since WWII the USA is no closer to forming a state of Palestinian mainly because the USA has a broken political system that people of AIPAC have too much influence because they are well funded. The day Palestine makes the call for statehood in the UN will be THE defining moment for the President- and the US in general- for generations. That one yea or nay will determine the standing of the nation for decades- we can build all the malls we want, we can give all the money away that we want- but when the rubber hits the road, the world will remember that the US sealed the fate of the Palestinians for the love of gold and privilege.
I want President Barak Hussein Obama to personally deliver his yea or nay vote- not some ambassador, not some staffer- I want him to do it personally so we can see his face when he does it.
