According to Afghan President Hamid Karzai, his government is already engaging in serious talks with the Obama Administration about keeping American troops in Afghanistan beyond the end of 2014, the current date at which NATO’s involvement is supposed to end.
The announcement came today at a press conference in Pakistan, which President Karzai is visiting. It comes at a time that the Obama Administration is preparing to announce what is expected to be a trivial July 2011 drawdown.
But officially, the US and NATO are supposed to end their decade long occupation of Afghanistan in 2014, and even though this date is comparatively new for the Obama Administration, officials had already hinted it would likely be missed.
Exactly how much it will be missed by remains to be seen, but a number of indications recently are that the US is seeking what amounts to permanent bases in Afghanistan, albeit under the guise of permanent “joint” bases with the Afghan military.
So Mr. Hammid Karzi you finally showed them Haaa. you showed them who is boss here in Afghanistan with no fear what so ever Haaa…, you showed them and told them.., that’s it.., no more US troops and no more NATO troops beyond 2014.., but off course you left the door open for more negotiation for your pension with dental care for after 2014.., well done Hammid.., people of Afghanistan will call you “The lapdog” of US-NATO militarism regime from now on.., promoting you from being a puppet.
DOD has reported only 16 dead Americans in Afghanistan for June 2011, while the National Journal article posted tonight at AntiWar claims 23 Americans have died so far in Afghanistan during the first two weeks of June. For MAY DOD reported only 34 US Afghanistan deaths compared to the National Journal article which claims 51 US soldiers died in Afghanistan in May, 2011. Is the Pentagon attempting to low ball combat deaths ahead of the assessment? Are US combat deaths being classified due to special operations that are escalating the war inside Pakistan?
Karzai's request for a more permanent U.S. presence is to use the American military as his proxy militia and to assure his continuum in office with the attendant, lavish life style to which he has become accustomed. Karzai, as is his entire cabinet, is a crooked as the proverbial dog's hind leg.
This is the 21st centuries' new opium, oil and gas war, and the 'war on terror' is the administration's spin or justification posed to the American people as necessary to protect them against the amorphous terrorist network. No one in Washington seems to get it or give a damn… that the Afghan people and out troops are paying an extraordinary price for the benefit of the American bankers and oil magnates.
How didn't see that coming?Expect the same in Iraq.Iraq and Afganistan don't tell big bad US when to leave both are controled buy the US who put the regimes in power in the first place.Israel tells America what should happen and America listens. Why should this be any different? When they do leave how nows when but Gates has other countrys he wants to spread love and democracy in like North Korea,China,Pakistan and the list ios probably endless. The first republican debate was last night the number 1 issue is jobs and I'm sure everyone agrees its very important. But Americans not just some should let the world no they think bringing there troops home and not illegaly invading countrys and spreading democracy is just as important.Of course jobs are a must but I think the murder of innocent people is just as important if not more so.I hope most people agree. The wars should be as important as jobs when the country is bankrupt and alot of people say it is things will get worse.Leave the wars and worry about getting the country back on track.I think murder expecialy when its mass murders is the worst thing a person can do and sorry but as important as jobs are they should be a far secound to life.
I guess he isn't all that upset about our killing his civilians.
I guess when it came right down to a question of more of his citizens dying or his protectors leaving him, that he decided that some dead civilians every year is a price worth paying to keep the troops that keep him president around. What a great leader!
