Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s standoff with Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has not ended, according to the latest reports. Rather, it seems to be escalating.
The dispute that began on April 17 when Ahmadinejad fired his Intelligence Minister Heydar Moslehi and was overruled minutes later by Khamenei has seen increasing friction between the two. It has also raised a constitutional crisis.
Under the Iranian constitution Ahmadinejad had ever right to fire a member of his cabinet. While there is no explicit law allowing the Supreme Leader any say in the cabinet, his role as the nation’s religious leader gives him de facto authority over virtually all government policy.
President Ahmadinejad responded to the move with a refusal to perform any duties for the remainder of the month, but returned to duty during a cabinet meeting on May 1. The temporary boycott led a large number of MPs to openly condemn Ahmadinejad for defying the Supreme Leader.
Now a top Ahmadinejad aide and MP is reporting that Khamenei has delivered an ultimatum to the president: accept Moslehi or resign. It is unclear when the deadline is, but this seems to be the strongest of a growing number of indications that Ahmadinejad’s days may be numbered.
Well what 'cha know, power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Let the show begin…
This is the exact proof of Mullahs corruption. They are similar to the Vatican in the dark ages when they had the full power over kings in Europe. They had the power to remove or annoint kings and rulers in Europe. These pedophile homosexual Mullahs got very powerful because the rest of the Iranian sheeple follow & obey them blindly because they think the Mullahs got the keys to heaven.
Reporting by corporate media on Iran is typically based on echoing assertions made on opposition websites. The Guardian recently ran an article about Ahmadinejad's circle being charged with sorcery and claimed that the news came from an Iranian web site. In fact, the source was a website in the .nu domain run by an opposition "futurist" based in Washington DC. The Jerusalem Post then runs an article based on the Guardian article, and so the echo chamber continues its reverberations.
Finally the rattlesnakes starting to bite each other.., question is if their venom is working.
Ahmadinejad is the production of the Iranian Islamic regime left wing.., at least he pretends to be one.., he was one of the students who kept the US embassy hostage and his the one who helps what is called “people martyr” or “Fadaean Khalg Iran” a radical guerilla group separated from the old Iranian Soviet communists style called “Tudeh party”.., who cooperates and supports the regime.., some of its ideologues having a high government post or two. Ahmadinejad is not one of these old fashioned communist but he needs them to survive his political position. Ahmadinejad and his allies are opportunist in political terms.., so is the case with all religious groups; therefore, his seen with Hugo Chavez and other left wing radicals to enhance his position.., in the other hand by left or governments as Hugo Chavez supporting the Iranian regime is nothing but an opportunism against US and EU foreign policies when the Iranian regimes are considered to be anti imperialism.., yet these regimes forgetting the fact that these kind of regimes (religious) are far more imperialist then US and EU might be. So it goes for Obama doctrine promoting the Sunnis in Middle East and North African countries forgetting the fact that people movement never was about religious until Khomeini was brought into the political life to stop the democracy demanded by the Iranian people. Obama simply is a production of Jimmy Carter from gang of five from Chicago promoting what is not about democracy but rather a falsified one.
