Israeli Troops Expel Shepherds, Damage Water Tank in Southwest Syria

Troops ties up civilians in Daraa, confiscate their motorcycle

Israeli troops continued cross-border operations into southwest Syria’s Quneitra and Daraa Governorates again today, harassing civilians and damaging and confiscating private property in the areas.

Troops backed by eight military vehicles entered the area west of Mazraat al-Hanout, in Quneitra’s countryside, expelling a number of shepherds from the area, and opening fire on a civilian water tanker with live ammunition, damaging it.

Elsewhere in Quneitra, near Tal Kroum, Israeli forces fired artillery shells at the countryside. Exactly what was hit in the shelling or how damage it caused was unclear, but there were no reported casualties. Troops also entered the farm area of al-Hanoun.

Further south in Daraa, Israeli troops confronted a pair of civilians on a motorcycle in Wadi al-Raqqad. The troops tied up the civilians, and confiscated their motorcycle, though notably it appears they didn’t arrest either person or provide a reason for doing so.

As is often the case, the IDF issued no statements today regarding any of their operations within Syria, so while they were definitely a hassle to the civilian population of that region of Syria, exactly what policy they’re meant to be advancing is entirely uncertain.

Drones were also reported overhead in central Quneitra and western Daraa, as well as further north in the area around the capital city of Damascus. No attacks were reported in any of these overflights.
