One day after Israeli drones dropped leaflets over villages in the Yarmouk Basin admonishing Syrians against trying to block roads used by the invading Israeli military, troops attacked the residential area of al-Maariyah.
The reports have Maariyah taking extensive fire, targeting homes, though incredibly, no civilian casualties have been confirmed in the shooting incident. During the shooting, Israeli troops were also reported to be advancing on the nearby village of Jamlah.
Maariyah is one of several villages that aimed to limit Israeli forces advancing into them by placing stones along the roadways to block military vehicles. Troops had launched similar attacks on Maariyah over the stones earlier this month, though it is not clear further stones were placed before today’s attack.

Israeli forces have taken a growing interest in the Yarmouk River Basin in recent weeks, and villages like Maariyah and Jamlah have found themselves in the crosshairs. Maariyah and Jamlah are south of the UNDOF line, in Daraa Governorate, and Maariyah in particular is very close to the Jordan border.
In addition to the Daraa operations, Israeli forces were also active in the northern part of Syria’s Quneitra Governorate, with military vehicles reportedly raiding the village of Samdaniyah on Sunday, detaining a civilian before departing. His fate remains uncertain.
Israeli forces also reported fired artillery shells at farmland in the same part of Quneitra Governorate, near Taranjeh village. No casualties were reported in those strikes either.
