Speaking today in a series of television interviews, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton reiterated that the Obama Administration does not seek and would not support the ouster of Egyptian dictator Hosni Mubarak.
Rather, she insisted that the US wanted Mubarak to listen to those opposition figures who have “legitimate grievances” and move towards a “managed change” and an “orderly transition” toward a somewhat more democratic society.
Clinton even disavowed previous suggestions that the US might revoke its military aid to Egypt, what with the Mubarak regime using its security forces chiefly to kill dissidents, insisting that the US didn’t want to be seen as “backing away” from their long-time ally.
A group of former officials, however, are urging the US to cancel the aid for the time being, insisting that they cannot possibly expect to be seen by the protesters as “neutral” when they are throwing $1.5 billion annually in support at the regime.
Who gives a shit about what the US wants at this point? However, it's good to know that the mask of the hypocrite is off. We now know that the US stands with Mubarak and the oppression. Not that we are surprised,
No, we are not surprised, and
I agree, who gives a .s.. what Hillary thinks, anyway!
She, and VP Joe Biden dont really have an opinion,
They will just change their "opinion" when the realities are kicking in!
W9
I think the shareholders supplying the "american aid" will be very concerned with a market lost woth a few hundred millions..
"Thou shall NOT mess with the US puppet!" Thus spake the SecState Schoolmarm Shillary Clinton.
so hillary, tell me once more about our commitment to democracy around the world……once again the u.s. is on the wrong side of history…what happened to us?
The US government stands for Hypocrisy regardless of whomever is charge.
The Democrats are just as bad as Republicans. Obama administration is supporting Mubarak and
if that fails, El Baradei is acceptable, which probably means that he is another stooge for the US.
They hate us for our freedoms …Right.
I don't think El Baradei is "acceptable" to the Americans. They are pretty much full speed behind Mubarek. EL Baradei was and is now still despised by the Americans. What if he and The Muslim Brotherhood are really able to cobble together a democratic government? This would be a doomsday scenario for Tele Aviv & Washington, because a democratic government representing the aspirations of its population will not cater to the whims of Tele Aviv and Washington.
Despite claims to the contrary, A democratic government anywhere in the Middle east would be a nightmare for the empire, and they WILL do everything in their power to sanction and destroy it IF it happens.
Gang leader of thieves at the SD has spoken and let people of the World know that Empire of Terror is with forces of despots, tyrants, oligarchs and of course other thieves.
Would Clinton or the US state department support the ouster of Osama Bin-laden or they would prefer a managed change at Al-Qaeda?
These people are beyound belief, they are trying to blocdk the sun with thier hands.
It will be advisable to Hillary to look their own house and in comoing years americans will seek a place to live as they are habitual of conspiracies.
We know all america loves corrupt leaders in Muslim countries to torture their own publin.
An Egytian told me once some one is in Jail of Egypt will never come out except his dead body.
This is natural americans loves israelis for their killings of Palestinian and would like to keep such regimes who support israel and kill their own people and Hussnie is such a man and looted 56 billion dollars and transferred to west and public is dying of hunger.
Is America afraid of the "Domino effect", in that All of its well supported dictators will soon be toppled? Is America today any different than the old Soviet Union. I think not. And, by the way Hillary, there's nothing to discuss. What the the people of Egypt want is non-negotiable.
Hey Hillary and Barry, the chickens are coming home to roost.
as far as Egypt goes it is really all about israel for the US gov and media….
the more things try to change the more they stay the same
Kiss of death for the poor guy. Hillary is the last person to trust especially since her daughter converted to orthodox when she got married. Is it not time for hillary to take time away. She has been a power player since she was part of the gang going after Nixon. Since the early 1970's the present disaster in the middle east has been brewing. Lets get rid of all the old AIPAC lackies and find a new group before we all sink.
hypocrite, hypocrisy, is from the word idiocy which means single narrow minded hypocrite.., with no understanding in what they say that they are.., so we are back to square one with this women and her double language with no moral attached to whatever she says or have said that she is. In one hand she wants the social political changes that taking place in Egypt in the other hand she is not going to support it.., that was the same thing with Bush starting the Iraq war.., these democrats or Hypocrites didn’t know what they were doing therefore she and Barbra Boxer and many other hypocrites just voted to start a war.., I mean how could you trust George W. Bush.., well what goes around comes around.., with your and rest of you doubble language how and why should people trust you and your boss Hillary.
If the US government likes him that's one more reason for the Egyptian people to cut off his head.
Probably the BEST reason.
It's been US policy to try and get Mubarak to "listen" at least since 2008 as revealed by this Wikileaked cable, http://wikileaks.ch/cable/2008/12/08CAIRO2543.htm… Amongst several plums is this key excerpt:
"Our fundamental political reform goal in Egypt
remains democratic transformation, including the expansion of
political freedom and pluralism, respect for human rights,
and a stable and legitimate transition to the post-Mubarak
era. Egyptian democracy and human rights efforts, however,
are being suffocated, and Mubarak remains skeptical of our
role in democracy promotion, lecturing us that any efforts to
open up will result in empowering the Muslim Brotherhood
(which currently holds 86 seats in Egypt's parliament).
Mubarak now makes scant public pretense of advancing a vision
for democratic change. An ongoing challenge remains balancing
our security interests with our democracy promotion efforts."
One of the reasons the US is held in contemp by much of the world is its insistence on minding everyone’s business. Who elected or even appoiinted Obama, Clinton, Natanyahu or any other outsider the leader of the Egyptian people? The best advice all these moving mouths can follow is to SHUT UP! Like it or not, they can’t do anything about what is happening in Egypt.
The dictator of the world (USA) has spoken ! Only the dictator is allowed to tell us what's good for us and nobody else's opinion counts. You can bet that the CIA is hard at work behind the scene trying to distort or divert the revolution with plots, murders and bribes.
So they won't be holding up any shipments of the best second rate military equipment money can buy. Lots of security stuff to make sure Mubarak and friends are a safe as can be, but nothing that might tempt anybody to cause 'mischief' with the Zionist Entity.
Let's see what Obama's willing to abide to keep the lid on.
1- Look people US and EU government especially what is called "left liberals" like Tony Blair and his Labor party are afraid of changes taking place in Middle East and North Africa or for that matter around the world. The present US statues Queue and EU`S militarism regime (NATO) is the one that are losing rapidly and that’s where the problem starts, a problem that EU and US always been afraid, that is a growing democracy in Middle East and Africa.., yet it all started with the idea that US needs to stands firm and confront any one and every one and by all means to secure US and EU interests in Middle East and elsewhere, on that ground the Afghanistan and Iraq war was started.., the idea however is by Paul Wolfowitz and his political gang of Mafiosi.
2- This has been supported by Clinton and its been continued at this present time. Having said that: the US and EU`s present governments (most of them) are nothing but a regime installed and orchestrated by Oil and other corrupt companies whom have their interests in having all this atrocities’ taking place in Middle East and in Africa, people are sick and tired of this continues concept and therefore there is Egypt and more people would organize against their puppet regimes as Mubarak and King Husain of Jordan and it will continue beyond Hilary Clinton and or Paul Wolfowitz and his Mafiosi gangs of war machineries that can imagine.
Would these discussions take place before or after the torture sessions?
A litmus test of the new regime wil be: Will they accept US aid?
If they do accept US aid, they will end up a US stooge. If they don't US aid,, Egypt will thankfully be on their own for once and good luck to them.
I feel a bad sense of deja vu with this fomenting crisis. I worry that we will continue to defend this dictator to the hilt with our money and political support. Then, when the riots break out, Mubarek leaves Egypt for a nice vacation at Disneyland. In return, the mob seizes our people and this turns into another Iranian hostage crisis. We would help ourselves far more if we supported the good people of Egypt in their quest for freedom. We should not try to influence the outcome, but rather set the good example of freedom, equality, and democracy. We can only hope that it turns out well for us, and more importantly, for the Egyptian people.
So, people of Egypt, the mouthpiece of America has spoken. Did you hear? You must obey. Only America can say what is right for Egypt.
Yes sir master, we are doing exactly what you have being telling us to do,
You wanted us to be democratically inclined and that's what we are doing.
Egyptian .
One of the biggest problems with US foreign policy for a very long time and including now is that our "ally" in any given country is not the people of that country but the dictator du jour.
Mubarak is lucky the people haven't demanded his head on a plate- but Hillary's remarks are inching him closer to that sort of thing, painting him even more as a US puppet.
The question is, just what is the US going to do about change in Egypt? What CAN it do? If the US is smart (which, no, I'm not holding my breath on that), Washington will sit tight and see what happens and make peace with the incoming government as best it can. Intervention? Since it's Israel who stands to lose the most, let THEM do their own dirty work for a change- let THEM offer Mubarak the IDF and see what happens. Jewish troops firing on Egyptian civilians? Oh yeah, that's a boatload of blowback just waiting to drop right on top of Tel Aviv.
1- For your info… Today the oil price jump to over $100 dollars a barrels … according to WSJ and CNN it is not because of shortage in the market but is because this movement in Egypt that might spread to another level which makes the market nervous and therefore the Oil companies rise the price.., if there is no shortage and oil is coming out from Middle East then why these Oil companies rising the price…?
2- In the other hand, why is it that Obama or for that matter one or two senators like Barbara Boxer or Rockefeller or even Senator Kerry is not looking into such hasty price hick by Oil companies and with no logical explanations, aren’t they the peoples representatives.., if so why all this hush hush and why they are still giving $1.3 billion to Mubarak and his regime.., isn’t that a kind of stealing peoples money and giving it to a non democratic regime, isn’t that a kind of saying to companies “do what you want we back you up“.., isn’t that kind of stealing the peoples wealth and giving it to these companies whom they blame the entire matter in what is not the reality. These are the little things that people are sick and tired and want to put a stop to it.., question is: are you Hillary Clinton or Barbara Boxer listening to peoples voice..?
are you Hillary Clinton or Barbara Boxer listening to peoples voice..?
Could you please clarify which people, Egyptians Maybe?
How can democrats like Clinton and Obama support long standing dictators..??The Egyption people have spoken..they don't want Mubarek..majority rules in a democracy… right? Doesn't Obama get it?? Oh..but then the Ameriacans only do what benefits them..right??
