President Obama’s claims of progress in the Afghan War don’t seem to be cutting into the realities of record death tolls and official predictions of more record death tolls to come, as a new CNN/Opinion Research poll (PDF) shows support for the conflict continuing to wane.
The poll now shows 63 percent of the American public opposed to the war, the largest opposition yet from the regular poll. The breakdown showed strong opposition across race, gender, regional and age lines.
A secondary question asked the public how “things are going” in Afghanistan and showed 56 percent of Americans believe the war is going either “moderately badly” or “very badly.” An interesting aspect of this is that the poll was taken in the days (Dec. 17-19) immediately following the president’s Afghanistan speech (December 16).
President Obama, of course, claimed the war was “on track” in the speech, and it is noteworthy that strong majorities of members of his own party and independents still believed that the war was going poorly in the poll, suggesting he wasn’t particularly successful in convincing people of this sudden and miraculous turnaround in the ever-worsening conflict.
I don't believe this fake poll because the majority who oppose the military adventure in Iraq, Afghanistan, Yemen & Somalia are the oppressed minority. The rest of the sheeple Americans, let's say 98% are busy watching sport and Lindsy Lohan. America is on the way to big collapse. Hence, they are no better from other past civilizations banished after they claimed to be above other nation. In fact they claimed to be above God like the American do now.
63% of Americans oppose the war yet 1% of them at the top want it. What does that say about the World's Greatest Democracy" ™?
"yet 1% of them at the top want it." I would say it is more like 15% that are behind the war for personal, financial, religious ect reasons.
It says that the guys at the top don't do any of the fighting.
I've been pretty unimpressed with the liberal take on the war. I have to say though, even though I've been a supported or the war, one of the few 20% of liberals, stories like the one I heard on NPR make me question down to my heart if it really is worth it.
"But it also spares the doctors at Bagram some of the more painful moments, she says. A colleague was taking care of a soldier who had just lost both legs, but was, unusually, awake and off the ventilator.
"One of our nurse anesthetists was there when the young man called his mother to tell her, and I think he broke down, he had to leave. Because he could hear this young man's mother crying and sort of falling apart on the other end of the phone," Riley says."

Hey no one asked me about the so called war, so you can make that 64%…
63%? Why anyone would support this so called 'war' in either Afghanistan or Iraq is hard to believe. It's a testament to the power of two generations of programmimg through complete corruption of our media, education, medical and entertainment systems. Divide, distract, dumb down, make dependent, and be sure the educational system kills any free or critical thinking. WAKE UP FOLKS! Private bankers run our government, its policies, and produce all of our new 'laws'. Politics is a dog and pony show meant to distract and fool us into thinking we have any say in government. It's mind boggling wealth transfer and power grab on an unprecedented scale. END THE FED!!!
