In what must be one of the oddest bail standards in modern history, a British judge denied bail to whistleblower Julian Assange today on the grounds that he has the ability to leave the country “if he wants to” and therefore poses a flight risk.
Assange’s arrest is related to some ill-defined sexual offences against two women with whom he had consensual sex. The Swedish government still considers him a “suspect” and has been probing the allegations for months. Despite WikiLeaks lawyers apparently offering to make Assange available for questioning the Swedish government issued an international arrest warrant against him.
Despite the detention of their extremely high profile founder, WikiLeaks insists its operations will continue unaffected for the time being. Assange plans to contest the extradition to Sweden and warned that if something were to happen to him the “insurance” file WikiLeaks released would be opened to the general public.
US officials cheered Assange’s arrest, though British officials insisted the arrest was totally unrelated to WikiLeaks itself. A number of top US officials including presidential hopefuls are still calling for Assange’s assassination on the grounds that revealing embarrassing truths about top officials makes him a “terrorist.“
I don't believe for one second about this Assange deal. He is another CIA patsy to give the Feds an execuse to sensor the internet. In fact they will have the full right to shut down the internet. If they wanted to stop him they could have done that long time ago.
I guess the pay you well for spreading misinformation.
Amazing. The US didn't go after Osama bin Laden with the same alacrity with which they've gone after Assange. It should be obvious to all that the powers that be see Assange as a bigger threat than Al-Qai'da, OBL or even Islamo-fascism.
It's very disturbing that just a guy releasing information (even classified) can be considered a terrorist in face of the only super power in the world???!!! What's the balance here???!!!! Either these information were not really classified or the CIA has many flows that need to be addressed! Instead of working to becoming more transparent to the public, governments are concerned to protect and continue their obscure foreign affair practices. Start clearing these doubtful alliances with those who are publicly considered ennemies, have a straight forward voice and policy, there won't be anything reason to fear anyone or anything.
Wolfgang,
I know, right. These tools that keep trying to spread that line of sh¡t would be hilarious if they weren’t so pathetic. Show me a person that believes that and I’ll show you a person who probably still puts out cookies for Santa Claus.
Speaking of Santa Claus, I bet the scumbag, loansharks at Mastercard are gonna have to cancel their xmas vacation plans and put in some overtime at work. lmmfao!
I wonder how much the two women in Sweden have been paid by the CIA/Pentagon/State Department for testifying against Assagne.
This is the art work of the new social democrats.., and the police officer whom these two women were not to report any rapes or anything but were there asking her advice.., where she contact another female prosecutor whom drops the charges yet the case goes on to a attorney whom advise these women to proceed and then the case goes to another city about 100 mile from where the alleged rape took place and another female prosecutor there decides to proceed with prosecution .., if this scenario is not a work of CIA and or Swedish SÄPÅ then the only thing that I can think of is the work of Social democrats and Communist in Sweden.., because not only it smells dirt’s but is also a bad political move played by Social Democrats which are famous for that. In the other hand I think Assange should have asked these women.., what is your intention wanting me to F""##¤¤%%&&//()(%¤K you.
