Lockheed Martin will increase its production of High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS) by over 60% by the end of the year, as the rocket launcher has been in high demand since the US started sending it to Ukraine.
The US provided its first HIMARS to Ukraine in June 2022, which marked a significant escalation of US support for the proxy war. HIMARS are mounted on trucks, making them easy to move, and fire GPS-guided munitions.
According to The Defense Post, the US has delivered 39 HIMARS to Ukraine, and several European countries, including Estonia, Latvia, and Poland, have placed orders for the advanced artillery system.
Lockheed Martin produced 60 HIMARS launchers in 2023, which marked a 25% increase from 2022. This year, the weapons maker aims to produce 96. The US Army is looking for a total of 500 HIMARS by 2028, which would require producing 100 each year.
The increase in HIMARS production is just one example of how the proxy war in Ukraine has been a total boon for US arms makers. Lockheed Martin is also looking to increase the production of Javelin anti-tank missiles, which are made jointly with Raytheon, the former employer of Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin.
The war in Ukraine revived Raytheon’s Stinger anti-aircraft missiles, which were out of production for 20 years. To restart production, Raytheon had to call in retired engineers.
The profit is also up by 60%…!
But is the effectiveness excellent or nowhere?
Just remind yourself of F-35 costs thus far…!
lots of decimal places…..lots of looted taxpayers increasingly worthless fiat “dollar” notes…lots of Shareholders grinning….and glad thier stooge Austin is still being their pissboy at DoD….sooooo sad and predictable…
Paid by………………………………..
Reading this article by Dave, i wondered If my memory is mistaken. I recall when this system was first added to the Ukie arsenal it was touted to be a huge game changer which would transform the entire conflict against Russia. Then not long after I read somewhere, probably here at aw.c-m, that Russians had been able to hack them and sent them every way but the intended!!! So why would they increase production??? Have they found a fix, or was the hack story bogus…??????
The Ukrainians certainly promoted them as a necessary “game-changer.”
The Russians certainly slammed them as being an “escalation,” especially the longer-range versions.
The Ukrainians have subsequently almost certainly over-hyped their effectiveness, while the Russians have almost certainly over-hyped the effectiveness of their countermeasures.
That’s how everything tends to go.
“Mission Accomplished”
Yes, all of the MIC missions are accomplished…!
I wish Raytheon, Lockheed-Martin, Boeing & NATO would go the way of the Berlin Wall, GDR, USSR & the Warsaw Pact.
Those companies exist to keep the Cold War alive despite what I mentioned above. The war criminals want them to keep on living till the end of time.
First the US would need to start manufacturing of other goods on a mass scale. It’s a house of cards built on selling arms and debt (both built on more debt) and the value of the US dollar used as an international standard. We have little to nothing to offer but brute force in theft of resources and reliance on international slave labor. The plutocrats and MIC associated oligarchs will desperately cling to this strategy until it implodes.
So the Kiev government can launch more into Donetsk. Judge Napitolano had a guest on his show who is there. He walked by buildings that had been hit, craters next to building. One building was a library.
