President Biden’s nominee to replace Gen. Mark Milley as the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff said Tuesday that he would pursue establishing more bases in the Indo-Pacific region and increase support for Taiwan to prepare for a future war with China, Nikkei Asia reported Wednesday.
Gen. Charles Q. Brown told a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing that the Pentagon must “implement the National Defense Strategy and prepare a joint force that can win the next war, if called upon.”
The Pentagon’s 2022 National Defense Strategy names China as the “most comprehensive and serious challenge to US national security strategy,” with Russia named as the second priority. Brown said the US needs to establish more outposts in the Indo-Pacific because it takes time to move resources around the “massive” region.
“You cannot wait till the crisis occurs to be able to deploy capability,” he said. “You have to preposition capability and have that in place. You have to work with allies and partners to have access to locations.”
The Senate hearing discussed a new authority that allows the US military to send weapons to Taiwan straight from Pentagon stockpiles, known as the Presidential Drawdown Authority, the primary way the US has been arming Ukraine. The 2023 National Defense Strategy included $1 billion in PDA for Taiwan, but it hasn’t yet been used. “It will indeed help [Taiwan] to procure some asymmetric capabilities to defend,” Brown said.
Brown is a fighter pilot who currently serves as the chief of staff of the Air Force and stresses the importance of air power in a future fight with China. He headed US Pacific Forces from 2018-2020 and is said to have been nominated for his experience in Asia. Brown also has experience in the Middle East and was the deputy commander of US Central Command from 2016-2018, when the US was engaged in a brutal air campaign against ISIS.
The last thing the technically bankrupt USA needs is more military bases.
I think that morally bankrupt is the problem.
Yes. Culture requires a moral compass. A nation cannot exist for long without a culture. I propose degrowth and more fun as cultural signposts.
MORE PEACE, LESS WAR & MORE FUN with an ABM system works for me!
maybe they will build new bases right next door to all the existing bases
I wrote the other day that one bomb, one Aircraft carrier or one Tank are not needed for our defense. What we need is a sound economic policy putting the needs of our citizens ahead of power and profits and utilizing the skills of our people instead of machines that kill and destroy.Too bad thev ruling class does not see it that way.
And, working with other nations to secure their prosperity, not sell them weapons.
You are presenting yourself as Chinese.
The host country picks up most of the bill , the yanks are running a gigantic protection racket .
What do thieves do when they run out of other peoples money to spend? Find new people to exploit.
Borrow and spend rots both political parties and the US military as the rich people’s dynasty implodes into a vacuum of zero culture.
Biden gets on the phone with Xi: “…The Bad News For You Is We’re Not Going Anywhere. You’re Stuck With Us.”
Xi: “Okay, then. I have good news. No, I’m not…” …Then I woke up from a nuclear explosion. …I don’t understand. What’s the good news? …Anyone knows how to interpret this nightmare? (Sarcasm alert)
How about an antiballistic missile system for the entir USA INSTEAD…??????
More military bases? The military budget already eats up more than 1/2 of our discretionary spending. WTF?
Apparently NATO is planning to ramp up the Pacific Ocean area to defend itself from any possible Chinese aggressive actions.
Many military bases that will be VERY well armed and ready for action.
There is no doubt that the yanks are preparing for war with China once they have all their ducks in a row a false flag event will be staged to get the war going , in my opinion Russia / China should make a security pact where one will come to the aid of the other if attacked it is the only thing the yanks fear , the NATO LACKEYS will crap their pants if this takes place .
Russia and China should have allied well before Russia felt that it had to invade Ukraine. The U.S. has been pulling the same type of crap against China as it did against Russia, and I think that Russia could have convinced China to help pressure the U.S. to stop. Of course this is just a guess, but trying that would have been much better than invading Ukraine.
Let’s hear it for soiled trousers.
Who benefits from this policy? find out and you know why the policy is being advanced on and on until there are 1,000 bases around the world. There are 750 so far that are known. https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2021/9/10/infographic-us-military-presence-around-the-world-interactive
Rome had its legions and slaves .The US has Aircraft Carriers and missiles to terrorize other peoples.
It’s beginning to look as if Biden’s plan is to remove any threats to his desire for world domination. China is labeled a threat because it is, in his opinion, the only country capable of charting a course that is independent of the US.
These wars and rumors of wars started the day he set foot in the Oval Office, and there is a distinct possibility that he will have established so much momentum that, even if he is defeated at the polls next year, this lust for power will persist long after he’s gone.
it is sort of like the Olympics the US against the world.
From Scheerpost: https://scheerpost.com/2023/07/12/patrick-lawrence-a-yellen-in-the-china-shop/ The read is hilarious and it is on the mark.
WATCH OUT FOR CHINA!

you mess with them at your own peril
LOL. He looks like he wants war!
From Ukraine to Asia. War machine is like the pink bunny, doesn’t stop instigating war.
It is astounding that after the experience in Viet Nam, in Afghanistan, in Iraq and Syria and other places, the US insists that it can after all intimidate the biggest challenge of all: China. Ukraine has shown, so far, that the US does not have the industrial base, nor the will, nor the motivation, to prevail in its its proxy war in Ukraine. Yet it is up- grading its ambitions and now pretends it can “beat” China. Wow. Incredible. Nukes, here we come!
Totally agree! These psychopaths continue to push the world toward nuclear war because of their wet dream of taking over the whole planet. Putin is a saint compared to them.
The one thing I’d add to your comment is that it’s astounding that the public puts up with this crap. I understand why the immoral rich, their corporations, and their gutless immoral lackeys and psychopathic egomaniacs in the government do these things, but why are regular people so easily brainwashed? We need to reinstate the draft, maybe that would get people’s attention. Opposing the draft during the Vietnam war was the biggest political mistake of my life.
All good points. About why do people “put up with this crap”, it’s because they are happy with the narrative they have been fed. Few read the alternative narratives or listen to podcasts giving “the other side”. The internet is there for all, but few take advantage of it. People have to find on their own what is really going on. Otherwise there is little chance they will believe it. They don’ ask questions. Either that or they simply feel safer with group-think and “the accepted narrative.”
Can’t disagree with anything you wrote, but here’s the thing: we’re being pushed ever closer to nuclear war. Considering that, how could people be so complacent? Even Biden said that we’re closer to nuclear war than we’ve been since the Cuban Missile Crisis (that was fun, right?), so this is no secret. How could people not care enough about this to do anything? I mean, it’s just the Earth and the life here that’s at stake, no big deal right?
Complete ignorance and as someone coined the phrase here, “forgetaboutism”.
Time has passed and no one thinks about the bombing of Japan. And the bloodthirsty psychopaths like it that way.
In the case of the Cuban missile crisis there was a compromise made whereby the US removed its nuclear capable missiles from Turkey in exchange for promise not to attack Cuba. In that case wiser heads prevailed against great odds and resistance from “deep state”. Today it may be the reverse: mindless (doddering) pols provoke a nuclear incident and the military squashes the idea. Let’s hope.
Sounds about right, but I really hate to have to count on the military to stop a nuclear war. Talk about a backward dystopian situation!
As to the Cuban Missile Crisis, the whole world would be much better off today if the unevolved fools in both countries hadn’t removed Kennedy and Khrushchev from power. Those two were far more reasonable than what we have today.
Indeed.
The military will always want more military.
obama’s Joint Chiefs Pick Wants More Bases in Asia to Prepare for War With China Gen. Charles Q. Brown has been nominated to replace Gen. Mark Milley
So let’s do a thought exercise.
1. Half of America thinks the 2020 election was fraudulent.
2. If it was then there is NO valid elected President and Commander in Chief.
3. Therefore, any order from an illegitimate usurper is not valid.
4. An illegal order should be ignored!
“Half of America thinks the 2020 election was fraudulent.”
As of June 20, a little less than 1/3.
So you admit that 30% of Americans think that Democracy has failed in America!
That wasn’t the question.
Try living up to your moniker. It is irrelevant what people think if what they think is not true. There is absolutely no evidence that the 2020 election was fraudulent, at least not in the way that you mean that. To show this lack of evidence, Tucker Carlson invited the leader Stop the Steal person to provide evidence of that on his show, and she couldn’t provide anything. On the other hand, the 2000 and 2004 elections were clearly stolen, the first by the Supreme Pigs, the second by rigging it somehow (exit polls are almost never wrong, and the chances of the exit polls in all the states that were said to be wrong where the results were changed to Cheney were something like 250 million to one against).
Voting machine fraud is only one problem, and not even the biggest one. Buying elections with private campaign contributions, lack of proportional representation, and lack of TV time for all candidates are much bigger problems. The Democrats and Republicans both work for Wall Street, the military/intelligence/industrial complex, and the pharmaceutical industry, and we need several other parties in power in order to get any substantial change for the better.
So vote harvesting and mailing ballots to every current and former citizen in Nevada was acceptable, RIGHT!
