Ukraine had stepped up intelligence sharing with the US ahead of its northeast counteroffensive in the Kharkiv region that has seen significant success, The New York Times reported on Saturday.
The report cited unnamed US officials who said Ukraine started sharing more information with the US on its planned operations. The officials said this allowed the US to give advice and share intelligence for the counteroffensive, although the details of how exactly Washington helped are not clear.
Earlier in the war, the US had loosened restrictions to allow real-time intelligence sharing with Ukraine. Throughout the fighting, US officials claimed that this real-time intelligence had helped Ukraine target Russian forces, kill senior Russian officers, and drive Russian ammunition supplies further away from the front lines.
The US claims on how much the intelligence sharing has helped Ukraine aren’t confirmed, but it demonstrates how intimately involved Washington is in Kyiv’s war against Russia. US officials have previously bragged to the media about how intelligence sharing helped sink Russian ships and kill Russian generals, but the claims were later downplayed, with Pentagon officials insisting they don’t pick targets for Kyiv.
Ukraine’s Kharkiv offensive has led to significant territorial gains as Russian troops have pulled out of many areas in the region. A US official told the Times that Washington had “constantly” discussed with Kyiv ways Ukrainian forces could stop Russian offensives in the east.
The US had also reportedly helped Ukraine prepare for its southern counteroffensive in the Kherson region, but that push has not seen much success.
So increased intel sharing/more aid/never ending $$$$$ to Ukraine — but the same nations so eager to fund this insane war will not cough up enough to stop an entirely predictible, absolutely-will-happen disaster in the waters off Yemen: see story, UN still short of funding target needed to rescue decaying tanker off Yemen’s coast. Racism, colonialism, imperialism, inhumanity at its worst.
If the US had been willing to invest as much for peace as has already been spent on conflict, Ukraine might have the highest standard of living outside of Dubai right now.
Bingo!
Proxy war, working as it is supposed to. America will fight to the last Ukrainian.
Kiev seems to have run out of cannon fodder.
US military (Volunteers) are already fighting on the ground in Ukraine. US military is also commanding Kiev military at all levels from Company through Brigade to General Staff.
It’s not a secret
Including all NATO troops incountry might be 10-30,000 in total.
They also moved troops to Europe, some Seals and Green Berets to Baumholder South of Ramstein, and HQ or part of HQ from Stuttgart closer to Ramstein too. Some 33K American troops are still in Germany.
We are also sailing warships in the area. War games near Russian fleet.
Good points – likely quite a few are being rotated into Ukraine as ‘volunteers’
A few months ago, it was “Russian forces captured a bunch of NATO officers in Mariupol.”
Now it’s “NATO boots are on the ground at the front.”
And yet not a single NATO prisoner has been put on TV by the Russian forces, and not a single NATO soldier has let something slip on Instagram.
If it’s happening, it’s the most sophisticated and seemingly airtight deception operation since Operation Bodyguard in World War Two.
Thomas,
There are dozens upon dozens of videos of NATOland (ex) military floating around the internet. Now we can agree to disagree if these (ex) military are truly not-NATO but that’s going to take post-war analysis. Also, note Kiev official channels have repeatedly mentioned NATOland staff and other officers ‘advisinig’
I would be surprised if there WEREN’T some US NATO troops in Ukraine — probably at higher staff level to coordinate e.g. targeting from satellite surveillance and that kind of thing. Maybe some special operations types, but that could get embarrassing if they got captured.
A substantial presence of 1) combat troops who 2) remain formally affiliated with the US or other NATO armed forces would be impossible to hide. Not just because they could get captured or killed (and their bodies recovered by the Russians), but because the nature of the environment these days is terrible for operational security from both a technological and self-discipline standpoint. Someone would have posted the wrong photo to Instagram or done a rant on YouTube by now.
There are dozens of videos of American ‘volunteers’ incountry gleefully telling their stories on YT and other social media.
And how many of those “volunteers” are claiming to be current members of the US armed forces and/or to have been sent there by the US government?
LOL – plausible deniability.
“Plausible deniability” refers to a way to excuse or obfuscate things that have been exposed, not to a way to prove a claim for which the available evidence is: Zero, zip, zilch, nada, bupkes.
Are there western “volunteers” (aka “mercenaries”) fighting in Ukraine? Yes.
Are those “volunteers” current members of the US armed forces, or being directly recruited and paid by the US government? The next piece of actual evidence publicly presented for that claim will be the first.
I wonder, the Europeans are just finding out that going to bed with Americans is going to bed with a snake.
Biden is beating the Europeans over the head with a 2 by 4. Their economies are going down the toilet. He wants NATO to fight the war for USA on their continent and pay for it.
They are turning Europe in a slaughterhouse as planed to preserve their global hegemony. It goes back to at least 2014 and the Obama/Biden regime change in Kiev.
But in so doing they have only enemies left and nothing worth winning.
It’s a game to those who don’t have boots on the ground. Their goal is to increase the cost to Russia by prolonging the war. They will continue this approach until they run out of soldiers, until they are stopped, or until Russia withdraws. Meanwhile, the people of Ukraine, who were content with high levels of regional autonomy until 2014, will bear the cost in terms of lives lost, homes destroyed, and a destroyed economy.
Do you really not know that Ukraine has been an independent state since 1991?My bad – it was not clear to me that you were naturally referring to the the loss of regional autonomy which happened after the separatist movement in Luhansk and Donetsk started.
You seem to not be understanding what you’re replying to there.
Post-1991, the regions within Ukraine enjoyed considerable autonomy. Including, in the Donetsk/Luhansk areas, the autonomy to use the more dominant Russian language, instead of Ukrainian, in their schools and official government functions.
After the 2014 coup and the secession of the Donbas republics, the new regime kicked off a process of “de-Russification” at the expense of that regional autonomy, which hardly made for a good talking point in trying to get those Donbas republics back into the Ukrainian fold.
Thanks for pointing this out.
Michael64 is trolling, he could know better if he wanted to, his computer has search engine.
Another act of war!
From the start it was USA/NATO v. Russia from day ONE. There was never any doubt about that. It started the NATO nations broke the agreement to not move NATO east of Germany.
I wonder, that if and when the Biden warlords use NATO boots on the ground in Europe what the NATO members will do, after their economies are on the ground. Each one can opt out the way France and Germany did when Bush invaded Iraq, they were the unwilling. But at that time, they had real statesmen heading their government. Now they have idiots, and how reliable are idiots? How will the people react suffering the consequences of having their economies butchered by the Americans? Do the NATO war criminals take that in consideration?
Someone posted a video (on twitter) of a guy with a US southern twang onsite. So…mercenaries or actual NATO troops?
Americans and other NATO troops are mostly mercenaries, only a few small countries may have a conscripts. Russia has a 12 months conscription but has not mobilized the draft.
Thanks.
Not only intelligence sharing but it would be no surprise at all to find US troops or mercenaries leading the frontline troops.
