A Russian oil refinery near the Ukrainian border reported Wednesday that it was attacked by two drones that crashed into the facility that flew from the direction of Ukrainian territory.
The Novoshakhtinsk oil refinery in Russia’s Rostov Oblast is just five miles from the border with Ukraine. The plant’s management said one of the drone attacks caused fires, but no injuries were reported.
“As a result of terrorist actions from the Western border of the Rostov region, two unmanned aerial vehicles struck at the technological facilities of Novoshakhtinsk,” the plant said.
The incident is the latest in a series of attacks on Russian oil facilities near the Ukrainian border that have taken place since Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24. Ukraine hasn’t officially taken credit for the attacks, likely out of fear Moscow would escalate the war, but Ukrainian officials have hinted at involvement.
The US has provided Ukraine with Switchblade kamikaze drones, but the governor of Rostov said preliminary information shows that the drones were produced in Ukraine. A video surfaced of one of the attacks, and online observers said it appeared to be a UA-PD1, a reconnaissance drone produced by a Ukrainian company.
Russia has warned of consequences if Ukraine uses Western-provided weapons to attack Russian territory. The US and Britain recently provided Ukraine with rocket launch systems with a range of up to 50 miles. Washington said it received assurances from Ukrainian officials that they wouldn’t be used to hit targets inside Russia, but the US reportedly doesn’t know where the arms it’s pumping into Ukraine wind up.
Maybe the idea of shipping longer range weapons to Ukraine is to push the Russians to take more buffer territory to stay out of range, along with generally keeping the front lines hot. I guess they might as well start pouring concrete in the refugee camps.

Ukraine is digging a deeper grave. Unlike the boisterous West who announces every little military nuance with a mega phone, Russia chooses to work covertly and does not need bravado to beat its enemies.
Okay, now what? Put up or shut up.
To date, Putin has never been shy about carrying through when his declared lines were crossed, which is how we got this war in the first place.
So, what will Russia do? Something, I’m sure. Bad, I’m sure.
Biden’s War keeps getting worse, because his team are determined to learn nothing, much like royalty of France after Napoleon.
Or perhaps in their delusional state and desire to have the declining U.S. remain the sole super power they’re willing to risk it all.
Another pointless excursion by Ukraine which is unable to do much of anything any more. The other day was a big day for the Russian military, as they shot down two more Ukraine jets, and killed another 500 Ukrainians, which means at least 1,000 removed by wounds as well. At this rate, the Ukraine army will cease to exist in another 100 days.
The drone company headquarters sounds like an excellent target. They’ve got their address on their website with a map, FFS.
The Russians are looking for Kamikaze volunteers, perhaps you can join their special genocide operation.
That word doesn’t mean what you think it means.
On March 26 U.S. President Joe Biden called for regime change in Russia: Speaking in Warsaw, Poland, President Biden said of Russian President Vladimir Putin: “For God’s sake, this man cannot remain in power.”
Russia will never forget or forgive this. This war that the Western powers started will not end in the Ukraine, they will come for us all. We declared war on Russia, a war they will now happily play out to its bitter end.
