Early Wednesday, Israel carried out a flurry of airstrikes against the Syrian capital of Damascus, hitting an apparent ammunition depot and several other sites and killing nine people.
Details are still emerging and as usual, Israel is not offering its own report on what happened. Of the nine killed, five were reportedly soldiers.
Israeli attacks are nominally aimed at Iran in Syria, though a lot of the deaths are just bystanders. Killing soldiers is also fairly rare, though hitting military sites is not so unusual.
UN special envoy Geir Pederson warned that the attacks shouldn’t distract from the already dire situation in Syria, noting the country is not in a frozen conflict yet.
Hey another clear case for sanctions, right? Confiscation of property and wealth held anywhere by those nearest and dearest to the rogue state. We are, after all trying to uphold international law, no?

You mean to tell me that the Israelis (and Americans) can kill “bystanders”, i.e. civilians, but the Russians can’t? That kind of smacks of a double standard.
It absolutely is a “double standard” but after years of being witness to such, it rather rolls right off… Of course, if the shoe were on the other foot and such a policy applied to killing Americans, in other countries, we would have dropped nukes by now!
Is NATO going to put crippling sanctions on Israel?
The US usually leads in matters of sanctioning to ruin and the other NATO countries just pile on. So, I’m guessing no sanctions will be forthcoming.
Israel is trying to shift Russian attention away from Ukraine.
