Exactly where everyone stands on the Iran nuclear talks isn’t wholly clear. Earlier this week Europeans indicated the talks were done, and Iran’s negotiator Ali Bagheri Kani had returned to Tehran for consultations on the terms. The negotiator is back, and ready to go.
Yet now it seems that the ball is in America’s court, with Iranian officials saying it’s down to a “political decision” for the US, and that their delay is stalling a perfectly good deal from happening.
All of this supports what the EU parties have said for days, that the deal is pretty much in hand and just waiting for approval. The nations are also warning that the deal should be made soon, before something else happens to muck up the process.
The terms aren’t being made public, but from the start it didn’t appear things would land too far afield from the 2015 deal, just with the US returning and offering a promise of at least some credibility to honor the deal this time.
Over the past couple of weeks the deal has appeared very close, with the most recent stumbling block being concerns by Russia about the US sanctions on them getting in the way. While again, terms aren’t public, it appears everyone has come up with something on this.
It may not matter for Iran now that the new world order looks to be Bipolar. Siding with Russia China and their allies might be a better option.
The best option is always to be friends with everyone, trade with everyone, don’t join in anyone elses fights.
Agreed. The Neocons can’t keep up their poker face, beads of panic are showing. It’s only a little while and events will decide the outcome of these talks.
A deal is not likely save that the US needs more oil, fast. Yet high-paying oil industry jobs in North America re-empowering working middle class deplorables seems undesirable.
That leaves sourcing oil from places like Venezuela and Iran.
Israel, is dead set against any return of Iran into the world system and the GCC states may not be too happy about the idea either.
HAHAHAHAHAHA! What, the “done deal” isn’t so “done”? Say it isn’t so! Yet here we are again, waiting on the US. And talking about the EU? Are you serious? The US was never even in the negotiations – they were in another room! The US tells the EU what to do and the EU does it. Period. End of story. This was never about the EU. The US always drove this situation. Now that gas is short, maybe they want to beg Iran to agree. But now Iran has the leverage. Iran will use it to get more concessions. The US shot itself in the foot – if not the head – by not rejoining when it had the chance.
Our own intelligence has said that Iran is not trying to build nuclear weapons and hasn’t been since at least the early 2000s. Although I couldn’t blame them for wanting to. This whole thing, IMO, is a sham designed to keep Iran whipped. At the behest of Israel, of course.
. . .okay, and also let’s give Iran an attaboy for jerking the US around on a deal Iran really doesn’t need, and will probably not last another three years since Biden’s popularity continues to sink and any Repub might tear it up (again).
Iran apparently has tens of millions of barrels of oil preloaded on mega tankers floating on the ocean from back when they were ramping down production in ’18-19. So if the US is willing to deal, the shock effect of these instant reserves plus the long term effect of a major producer rejoining may have a nice impact on prices.
But Iran is essentially waiting on Russia’s approval.
US loves kicking Russia out of the new Iran’s Nuclear Deal because of Ukraine conflict…! But they cannot, because they are not part of the current deal…!
And Mr. Pence has already publicly stated that a Pence government will immediately tear up every agreement with Iran. Therefore, what is the sense of even signing anything? It seems a waste of time. Stop all economic throttling now and let Pence start it again.
Iran has only one rational choice today namely full integration into the Chinese Belt and Road system as well as into China’s banking system. Forget about earning dollars. Earn yuan’s. A Pence government cannot stop that without going to war with Israel against Iran.
Pence won’t see the White House so there is that. But any republican will tear up the deal, whether it be Trump or a clone. So you are right but you have the wrong clone.
Not just Republicans. Democrats will tear it up, too. However, with Biden’s performance, the Democrats will lose the mid-terms and 2024, so it will be a Republican again.
The democrats just don’t say things out loud. They’d had torn up the original if a republican had been in office. Although there wouldn’t have been one to tear up.
Heh, why does Rubio want to starve the US citizen of oil?
Oil From Venezuela and Iran Would be Banned Under New Rubio Bill

I tell you why…! Because he is paid handsomely by oil companies to enrich them and make US residents broke…! The US cutoff of Russian oil amounts only to 2% of US imports but the price of gas jumped more than 50 cents per gallon in one week…!!!
