For the second straight day Israel carried out strikes against Syria, following up Tuesday’s attack on Quneitra with missile fire against the capital city of Damascus.
Syria reported air defenses were active and intercepted most of the missiles. Some damage was reported and three soldiers were said to have been killed.
Israel hasn’t commented on these recent attacks directly, but did drop leaflets overnight warning Syrians against supporting Hezbollah. Israel officially does not comment on attacks on Syria that are first reported in the foreign media.
Russia issued a statement this week critical of recent Israeli strikes, warning they could lead to escalation. Syria threatened to respond to the attacks, though it is rare for Syria to retaliate to the regular attacks.
