At a press conference on Wednesday, President Biden said there is “room to work” with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the guarantees Moscow is seeking on Ukraine.
Putin wants the US to guarantee that it won’t deploy missiles to Ukraine and that Kyiv won’t ever join NATO. Biden said the US and Russia can “work something out” on the missile deployments issue.
Concerning NATO, Biden signaled he wouldn’t make a commitment on Ukraine’s membership but said it’s unlikely Kyiv would be joining the military alliance anytime soon. “The likelihood that Ukraine is going to join NATO in the near term is not very likely,” Biden said.
Russia likely won’t accept a verbal pledge from Biden on NATO expansion considering the US broke a similar promise that was made at the end of the Cold War. Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov made it clear on Wednesday that Russia wants “watertight” guarantees on NATO expansion.
Secretary of State Antony Blinken will meet with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Geneva on Friday to continue the dialogue on Moscow’s security concerns.
Biden also continued the narrative that Putin is planning to invade Ukraine, an accusation Moscow denies. “My guess is he will move in, he has to do something,” he said, adding that it would be a “disaster” for Russia to “further invade Ukraine.”
During the press conference, Biden suggested the US might do anything in the event of a “minor incursion” into Ukraine, prompting the White House to release a statement clarifying there would be a response if Russian troops enter Ukraine.
“President Biden has been clear with the Russian President: If any Russian military forces move across the Ukrainian border, that’s a renewed invasion, and it will be met with a swift, severe, and united response from the United States and our Allies,” the White House said.
Obviously, Kiev authorities, under American and British patronage, are preparing some serious provocations against DNR and LNR. A lot of new weapons from US and UK are arriving in Ukraine. Ukrainian army concentrated a big force on DNR-LNR border. According to DNR authorities, at the moment, British specialists are busy with training Ukrainian sabotage groups. Economic situation in Ukraine is deteriorating quick. In February Ukraine is going to have a very serious economic crisis. A new war in Donbass looks to them a very good option. Approaching economic disaster can be comfortably explained by “Russian aggression”. Besides, Putin already told that in case of a full scale military attack against Donbass, Ukrainian could lose her statehood. So Russia is ready for a quick response. Actually, Russia could act preventively, but definitely Putin will try to avoid any military actions until China finish her Olympic Games.
Meanwhile here is what is really going on:
Is Russia Evacuating Its Embassy In Kiev?
http://warnewsupdates.blogspot.com/2022/01/is-russia-evacuating-its-embassy-in-kiev.html
I thought this comment by the editor is interesting:
Quote:
Russia started removing non-essential personnel from the embassy after this Christmas Eve incident …. Russia says Molotov cocktail thrown at consulate in Ukraine, protests to Ukraine authorities (Reuters).
I do not know if this fire-bombing happened or not. But I do that
anti-Russian tensions in Kiev and elsewhere in the country are at an
all-time high, and precautions are being taken.
And if the Russian embassy is evacuated.
You can take this to the bank.
A Russian military invasion and/or major military operation will be occuring within 24 – 48 hours.

There you go…Zelensky just got his marching orders. And since Russian

any given time, Russia knows them, too.

three. They have large clamshell doors in their bow allowing them to
deposit these payloads right on the beach. They can also help attack

short-range surface-to-air missiles, and close-in defense systems.

US not to present written response to Russia’s proposals during Friday meeting — Blinken
https://tass.com/world/1390515
Well, the stage is set for February. My guess is we are 2-4 weeks away from war.
Putin is only going to do in spades what the USA would do if the “shoe were on the other foot”!!
Agreed. War seems to be inevitable unless NATO capitulates.
But I think sooner than that, here are some things to remember:
Alexander Suvorov is one of the greatest military commanders of all time and supposedly much of modern Russian military doctrine follows his principles. He believed speed and striking BEFORE enemy was prepared was key to victory.
Some quotes:
1. To surprise the enemy is to defeat him.
2. One minute can decide the outcome of the battle, one hour – the outcome of the campaign, and one day – the fate of the country.
3. Fortune seized at the right moment gives victory.
Putin seems to agree by judging his actions in the fait accompli Crimean operation.
I believe this means Putin will launch his surprise much sooner than anyone thinks.
“He believed speed and striking BEFORE enemy was prepared was key to victory.” That is why Israel attacked Egypt in 1967, and, why Israel tried to sink the U.S.S. Liberty to prevent the U.S. from knowing what they were up to. Israel knocked everything out in Egypt while planes were on the ground and Egypt could not respond.
The Liberty incident occurred after the war was initiated.
Biden’s comments at the press conference were clear to me: He has decided on war.
He knows he’s pushed Putin’s red line, and he won’t let up. He knows Putin will “do something” and he accepts it will be a war.
The rest is show, to try to shift blame.
It is war. Biden decided on that, rather than any compromise. NATO will expand until Russia fights to stop it.
Now, they fight. Biden is fine with that.
Biden foolishly thinks he can win. No chance. Just no chance at all.
Why no chance? Because Biden has given Putin the initiative, and Putin is not fool enough to use that only to make a loser move playing right into Biden’s hopes.
I am convinced the US military does not fight to win since Vietnam war.
If US wins, war is over and defense contractors lose contracts.
That simply can not happen.
The problem with starting a war with Russia is :
1. They have a habit of winning
2. They tend to follow retreating aggressors all the way home to capital cities causing massive casualties.
3. They tend to keep some captured territories as a permanent reminder not to attack Russia ever again.
4. They are fully capable of doing all these things to any country in NATO, including USA
“I am convinced the US military does not fight to win since Vietnam war.”
But no one else had Russia’s lethal weapons and the ability to do damage on our shores. We really don’t mess with anyone who can hit back.
Russia did not “win” in Afghanistan.
There is debate amongst military historians about that.
The Soviet Union conducted its own regime change operation in Afghanistan in 1979. The friendly communist government installed by the Soviet Union actually outlasted the Soviet Union itself. The US was supporting a resistance movement and they never won while the Soviet Union was still supporting that government.
So, contrary to what Americans are taught, the Soviet Union did not lose that war. Had the SU remained intact, that government would probably still be in power today.
You seem to give the impression you thought Biden was really a normal POTUS. Did you watch the Press conference??
Biden also continued the narrative that Putin is planning to invade Ukraine, an accusation Moscow denies. “My guess is he will move in, he has to do something”
Translation: We won’t stop provoking him until he does.
They should stop adding “and our Allies” to their statements espousing aggression. They all do what we tell them to do. Why don’t we ever have a rotating “boss position” among all of the NATO nations, wherein the State Department/Pentagon/CIA aren’t calling the shots for supposed sovereign nations? How come in all those “democratic” allied nations, those pure and wonderful democracies can’t put a vote to their citizens asking them what they think of further expansion of NATO, and what it might lead to?
It goes: Israel to U.S. to NATO
Saying just to administer anesthesia to American public. Just to act as an ild grandpa, fuddy-duddy reasonable man who wants peace.
That has been his cover all aling on many issues including China.
Biden is incoherent.
“Secretary of State Antony Blinken will meet with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Geneva on Friday to continue the dialogue on Moscow’s security concerns.” LOL Boorish Blinken has spoken without ceasing, always with “if Russia invades”, knowing there is NO way Russia wants Ukraine except as a neutral peaceful neighbour, NOT a NATO member, joining up to destroy Russia.
