Continuing the battle for Yemen’s Maarib, the Saudis reported 110 Houthis killed in airstrikes Tuesday. The strikes took place in Maarib Province and nearby Jawf.
In addition to 110 killed, the Saudis reported 22 military vehicles destroyed, as well as an arms depot. The Houthis have not commented on the strikes.
This is virtually par for the course in the Maarib fight, where a day without three-figure death tolls would be the real outlier. The Houthis are near Maarib City and the Saudis are relying on airstrikes to slow them down.
The huge death toll doesn’t seem to be preventing Houthi gains. At the same time, the UN is warning the deaths are getting in the way of potential peace efforts. If that remains the case, peace could be on hold for awhile.
