Israeli attacks in Gaza on Friday and Saturday killed more than 20 Palestinians, as the IDF has escalated its strikes and continues its constant violations of the US-backed ceasefire deal.
One strike on Friday in the Nuseirat Refugee Camp in central Gaza hit Palestinians attending a funeral for people killed by an Israeli attack earlier in the day. The attack on the funeral procession killed eight Palestinians and wounded 19, according to medical officials at the al-Awda Medical Complex in Nuseirat.
According to Reuters, the IDF claimed without evidence that the strike targeted Palestinian Islamic Jihad and said it was “aware of the claims that several uninvolved individuals were harmed as a result of the strike.” Regardless of who the IDF is targeting, each attack is a violation of the ceasefire deal.
Other Israeli attacks in Gaza on Friday killed at least three Palestinians, bringing the day’s death toll to 12. On Saturday, Israeli strikes continued to pound the Strip, killing at least 10 people, including three children.
Attacks on Saturday included the bombing of an apartment building, which killed five members of the same family, including the three children. Three Palestinians were also killed by artillery shelling in Gaza City’s Zeitoun neighborhood, and two Palestinians were killed by other attacks elsewhere in the Strip.
Israeli attacks continued on Sunday, with the Palestinians news agency WAFA reporting two more killed overnight by Israeli artillery shelling in Zeitoun. Another Palestinian was killed, and 10 were injured by an Israeli bombing of a tent in Khan Younis, southern Gaza.
Gaza’s Health Ministry has released a death toll update in recent days, but according to Gaza’s Government Media Office, Israeli attacks since the so-called ceasefire deal was signed in October 2025 have killed 1,168 Palestinians and wounded 3734. The Media Office also said that Israel has allowed just 37% of the aid trucks it agreed to allow to enter Gaza under the agreement.
“We condemn in the strongest terms the occupation’s systematic policy of targeting and exterminating our Palestinian people and its policy of continuous, uninterrupted killing,” the Media Office wrote on Telegram. “We demand that the mediators and sponsors of the ceasefire agreement compel the occupation to implement all the terms of the agreement and stop its ongoing violations.”
Hamas recently announced it was dissolving its government in an attempt to get the US to pressure Israel to actually implement the ceasefire deal, but Israeli attacks have escalated since then, and the Trump administration has remained silent about the constant Israeli violations.
