An Israeli drone attack killed a 15-year-old boy in Khan Younis, southern Gaza, the Palestinian news agency WAFA has reported, as the IDF continues its constant violations of the US-backed ceasefire deal.
According to WAFA, the boy, identified as Riyad Naji Abu Nimer, was hit by shrapnel when an Israeli drone dropped a bomb on a group of civilians, and he died of his injuries before reaching the hospital. Several other people were wounded in the attack.
Later in the day, a second Palestinian was killed by Israeli gunfire in the same area. Israeli attacks were also reported in northern Gaza, where one Palestinian was killed by IDF troops in Jabalia, according to WAFA.
According to numbers from Gaza’s Health Ministry, at least six Palestinians were killed by Israeli attacks over the past three days. “A number of victims are still under the rubble and in the streets, as ambulance and civil defense crews have been unable to reach them so far,” the ministry said in its daily update on Sunday.
The ministry also said that since the so-called ceasefire deal was signed in early October, the IDF has killed at least 830 Palestinians, and 2,342 have been wounded.
The continued Israeli strikes come despite a report in Israeli media that the IDF was ordered to reduce its attacks in Gaza last week. The report from the Israeli newspaper Haaretz said that the US had requested Israel to conduct fewer attacks to foster negotiations with Hamas, which have shown no signs of progress due to constant Israeli violations and Hamas’s insistence that it won’t discuss disarmament until the first phase of the truce is actually implemented.
