Children Killed and Wounded by Israeli Airstrike on Tent in Southern Gaza

At least one child was killed and several were injured in the attack

An Israeli airstrike hit a tent sheltering displaced Palestinians in the al-Mawasi camp in southern Gaza on Monday, the Palestinian news agency WAFA reported, as the IDF continues its daily violations of the US-backed ceasefire deal.

Turkey’s Anadolu Agency reported that the strike killed at least two people, including a child. WAFA had a higher death toll, saying a total of four people were killed in the attack, and others were injured.

Photos from Reuters show that at least two young children were wounded. According to reports on social media, the child who was killed was a young girl named Dana Ma’arouf.

Also on Monday, a father and his eight-year-old son died when a building damaged by Israel’s bombing campaign in central Gaza collapsed as displaced Palestinians are living in tents and rubble amid continued Israeli restrictions. According to the Quds News Network, Gaza’s Civil Defense announced that it “has halted operations due to severe shortages of equipment and materials amid an Israeli blockade.”

Gaza’s Health Ministry said on Monday that Israeli forces killed at least two Palestinians over the previous 24-hour period, bringing the total number of people killed by the IDF in Gaza since the ceasefire was supposed to go into effect to at least 422. Another 1,189 people have been injured, meaning there’s been more than 1,500 total casualties.
